yesterday after a nice cruise with my new JBR shift plate and solid bushing.
I got a check engine light p0103 after my cruise when i was going to the store later that night. my car sounded rich as hell and drove sluggish.
I know its my MAF for sure cause my friend with a speed3 lemme use his MAF to see if it was the issue. anyways my question is..

does the factory cover MAF issues?
iv heard there weird about people having the mazdaspeed intakes now...
and the autozone manufacturer MAF's don't work right with our cars...
I know theres a guy on here that works with the dealer...
250.00 for a stupid sensor sucks!

any help would be appreciated, thanks

Do you have a CAI? If so, you may have just got your MAF dirty and/or wet. You could try (carefully) cleaning it with MAF cleaner... they sell it at any autoparts store for like $7. I would be very surprised if you have this issue with the stock airbox. If you're stock, and under warranty, they should fix it. If you have a CAI, and are under warranty, I'd swap that out for the stock airbox, or they'll most definitely tell you it was bc of the CAI, and NOT cover it.

Give this stuff a try..

I have used it on several cars and it seems to work well.

yeah i tried the can, resetting my ecu, and all the connections didn't seem to help. And I also have the CAI so I didnt even wanna try my warranty. I just bought the 250$ MAF at the dealer, car is back to normal. And please people this may happen to in the future, dont be cheap an buy an autozone re-manufactured one, they work fine but your car wont have any power lol

You may want to considered getting rid of your CAI if it's not the CPE one. The CPE one is the only one that flows air properly over the MAF. The others do not, and can trip CELs. I'm not sure if most people realize that tripping the CEL isn't the only problem here. If the MAF isn't reading the correct g/s of o2 coming in, it can't properly fuel the car. So you'll be hitting lean and rich spots. When you hit too lean or rich, you will pop a CEL. This is why they are problematic.

Also, it's much easier to suck water up there and mess up your MAF, either temporarily, or worse. I hope you have a splash shield for your CAI, and it's the CPE CAI. If not, consider an SRI/SF intake instead, or the CPE CAI if you must have a CAI. Glad you problem is solved, and GL.
