I think Jessica Alba's fame spawned from a show called Dark Angel. I watched only a few episodes of it because it was produced by.... I think Steven Spielberg? Some really big shot guy produced it.... I'm pretty sure it was Spielberg. Anyways, the show was only watchable because she was eye candy ... otherwise, I thought the show kind of sucked for a sci-fi tv series.

I didn't catch the series, but as a general movie and media junkie I can help out with this. Allen is right on about her being best-known for her leading role as Max in Dark Angel. The producer you're thinking of was James Cameron, who executive produced and wrote for the series.

She was probably on MadTV to promote the new movie "Honey" due out in December, in which she plays the title role, about a hip-hop dancer/choreographer.

Before Dark Angel she had small roles in Drew Barrymore's "Never Been Kissed" and "Idle Hands" with Seth Green, along with a dozen or so other projects I've never heard of.
