Does anyone have a how to or info on doing a LSD.
I've been debating about the Fugi vs. Quaife and still have NO clue as to whether I might be able to do this thing myself.

I know the Fugi or whatever it is (sorry) from the Mazdaspeed requires some other parts. What are they? I can't afford to have the car sitting around while I try to find the right parts.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I know a few have done this, but I couldn't find any data that really said, here's how and here's what you need. I don't trust my dealership to answer these questions.

Beavis....getting INSIDE your tranny to modify it will require some special tools....unless this is something you plan on doing a lot....you would be better off leaving the work to a professional tranny shop...or a dealer.

BEAVIS, i think pro 5, dave, did it himself, but he has the mazda speed lsd...try to pm him and he might be able to help you out...laters

Sup Beavis! Yeah, I took on the daunting task of doing it myself. I have to say, if you are going to do it yourself have the transmission portion of the service manual handy! I did it all with hand tools (like all of my projects) and an impact wrench. You do not need shims (well mine didn't) and new bearings for the LSD.

Here is the run down on cost:

LSD Bearings- $48.38 (2)
LSD- $569.86
Nut Locks- $36.59 (2)
Remove &
Press on Bearings $35.00

Total- $689.83

For more details shoot me a PM! Hope this helps!

Dave

Thanks everyone for the advice. . .
Pro 5, can you post the part numbers? That way if someone does a search they can find all the info. That is super cool that you did it all with hand tools and an impact wrench. I have all that! Sah-weet! :D (yippy) (rockon)

Whoo Hooo lysergic acid diethylamide (hippy) . Oh s*** my bad I thought we was talking about Acid.

i will tell you for sure once im boosted, but i love it now even with out boost. my tires seem to be wearing a lot more even also. Without the awr motor mounts the LSD acts wierd, the car shakes like crazy when your spinning your tires.
