Lowering The Mp3

So spring is here and everyone is doin s*** to thier cars now...the stock mp3 is dropped what .875" on the stock protege...
So people are lowering thier car by installing the aftermarket lowering springs...which those companies go by the stock protege ride hieght....so u buy eibach, H&R, intrax whatever springs you choose...they lower at a max of 1.5"...which on you peoples cars is only really not even .6"...not even half an inch! of a drop to you car.....NOW!!!!!!!!....is this right or am i wrong??..is it really worth paying almost $300+ the price of install of these springs??....I REALLY DONT THINK SO!!!!!!!!...i would reallypush for everyone who is tryin to get a lowerd car t just save your money and get coil-overs!!!!!!!......JUST MY 2cents!!!!!!!!!!!:D

NOT .875" LOWER...

The MP3 only sits about 5 mm lower (per mazdausa.com stats). This is confirmed by Racing Beat as they have said Mazda went to their own spring supplier for the springs. The springs use the rates that Racing Beat gave Mazda, but in a different height.

The springs you can get from Racing Beat are approximately .875" lower than the stock Protege.

I don't know how other comapnies measure the lowering amount, but Racing Beat is based off of stock Protege measurements.

continued

Imagine they go off from the MP3 ride height. Regardless my friends MP3 dropped a nice 1.75 inches and handled much better than groundcontrols....thats why I got rid of them:p

You got rid of your Groundcontrols? As in, you sold them? Or do you still have them lying around? I'm looking for a set of Groundcontrols, but don't have the cash right away ...

And I noticed you said the Groundcontrols were worst than the intrax in terms of handling, well, are the Groundcontrols at least as good as the stock springs? I'm more into lowering the car for looks, I think the Protege5 has decent handling considering I don't do autocrossing or anything like that. But then I don't want it any worst than stock.

overall WHATS THE FINAL WORD???

what is a temp drop that will improve the handeling looks and still be not too costly......so all these companies the drop they say on the spring is exactly what will drop our MP3's???.....so far i hear spoolin on the intrax ...the h&r's were in another persons car on this site...i think it is settled that COIL-OVERS are the best set-up...G.C are garbage so either JIC (obviously)...best set up but as for just the springs.....who has the best drop an nicest ride???????

I have the racing beat springs on my '00 ES and I love the way that they feel and handle...much better feel over stock and not much sacrifice in ride...oh yeah and they are not the same as the MP3 springs. The MP3 spring rate was done by Racing Beat but the drop is nto as much as the Racing Beats.

forget springs

Well, here is my big suprise... next on my mp3, youll see some air rods. Air rods up front, and the bags in the back. All push button conviencence. I got plans ladies and gentleman. Its gonna look so sweet! Thats all the info you can have for now.(I COULD TELL YOU MORE BUT I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU) hehe

they replace the springs. they are bags in the rear, filled with air (instead of springs).blasts of air through a "rod" type piston thingy does same thing. all would be controled by a remote box. really, no more info from here until pictures are released!

bah i wouldnt waste my money on those.....unless i was driving a Tahoe or something (tahoe on bags = SWEET)...they'll just ruin the handling that the car came with. i think for the amount you'll spend on bags...you could go with the JIC adjustables. then you can have performance w/o giving up on adjustable ride height.

just my two cents...do what you will.

JIC's Coilovers are gonna be soo nice....i cant wait for them....but they can wait until i get the money:( ....but they are the benst alternative....but until then i will most probably either get the eibach or H&R's .......can someone tell me which one has the best drop??....i know the h&r's are gonna have to be cut but i also heard that the eibach spring s are the same size as the mp3 springs.....can anyone get into this for me??

Not to forget that for some cars you have to modify the uppermounts to fit airbags. I think he was joking about that anyway.:)

they'd be rods up front, i don't know, it'd be dope ass s***, but i would probably lose the badass handling!...decisions, decisions!

I would do air rods (cylinders) all around, because with bags you will lose all handling, plus with the air rods all around you can do tricks, plus it handles close to close, but not quite as good.

I was going to go that route.
It was going to cost $1000 for the kit and I was gonna install it myself.
I have a friend that owns Drop Zone here in arlington texas.

Ground Control

So what is the word on the Ground Control? Good Bad? I heard that the ground Control was awesome on an MP3. I just want more than one person to tell me they didnt like them.

Hey tightmp3,

It depends on what you are looking for.

My friend has a set on a ES protege and it rides the same as our when he has got it to our hieght, but when he slams it its a little bumpy. But its looks tight as hell. As far as the craftmenship it is top quality and they use top quality sprins (eibach). As far as people saying that eibach sag after a while, my responce is raise it up a notch, duh!!! The coilovers you get for the adjustability. the kit he has on his ES is the newer version that has the ability to go higher than the original. I like them and when you drop any car to the ground with any spring your ride quality is going to drop. I am going with the ground control and I will let you know in a week if I like them or not, plus I will show a install series of pics.

PS I will probably love them even if the ride quality sucks, I kindof like the feeling when you feel every bump and bounce around, it kind of feels like you are in a race car!!!! lol

so the G.C are good??....ok whut about just the regular springs...i need to know what i should do...wither the h&r's, Eibach's...or the G.C....right now i really dont have the money for the install off the g.c ...i got quoted at $500 for install.....way to much and the springs i can have done for like 40 a spring....120 for all..not bad.....any one wana input any info on this for me???...thanx

My input to you nyczmp3 is to mail out the damn sub. then i will take your post seriously, but for now you simply do not exist.
