loud relays

anyone experiencing loud relays? when i turn on my rear defroster i hear a loud click on the driverside dash. when i turn on cruise control, there's a loud click on the passenger side of the dashboard. i went to the dealer for the and was told that its normal, but it still bothers me.

I recently had a rental P5 that was a mid-cycle refresh unit and it's relays were not noticeable. I was trying out the car in advance of ordering one and was paying pretty close attention to all of the details that I could think of. Since I removed the air filter (to see what a K&N would do) while I had the car, I may have missed the relay noise. Jim

I use the cruise alot and never noticed this sound. I have only used the defrost once so Im not sure about that. Sorry!!

I would also like to add that I know there is suppose to be a click, I read that in the forum a long time ago, but loud??? Not on my car.

I use the cruise, A/C and rear defrost all the time.... I've had my car for about a year now, and I've never heard those noises, but you can be sure I'll check tonight on my way home. How loud is it?? Do you hear it over the radio??

I know what you're talking about. I have a noticable relay click right behind the passenger side dash. I forget what causes it though, it's either the defrost or the main cruise switch, I forget which one. Yes, someone else on this board mentioned it to their tech and he said it was normal as well.

Relays making a clicking sound is perfectly normal. It just happens that the placement of the relay isn't really hidden enough to mask the noise of it clicking.

hehe you think the relay noise is bad on the P5 you should here the ones for my remote starter/alarm....don;t usualy notice though....i have the stereo blaring most of the time

Yup, I have those noises too. I double checked last night, and I was shocked that I never heard them before. But as banned bandit said, I usually have my radio playing, so I guess that explains it

yeah mine are pretty loud... but my exhaust is louder..

Hi. i have a MP3 and yes when i put on the defrost i hear that loud click on the drive side. it's just the relay and it's normal.
