Help!! One of my tires has a big Axx hole on the side and I need to replace it but I cant find the key to take the wheel lock off. Is there anybody in the Kissimme, FL area that would be kind enough to let me borrow their key?? If not, how can I take this mother off??

Do you have vise grips you could use? Maybe put sandpaper on them to create some friction.

if not, in theory... you may be able to get a few screw drivers, put sand paper on their tips, and put them in opposite grooves (maybe 3 screw drivers), and turn. But let us know how you work out (nailbyt)

Find a socket that fit's the diameter of the whole lug but is not quite big enough to go on with out forcing it. Just hammer it a couple times, not too much cause you'll want your socket back afterwards. Then just use ratchet or whatever to turn it out.

Easier way is to buy a really cheap socket. It will be easier to hammer in, and who cares if you mess it up.

the dealer has master keys, theres only like 4 different designs so they should be able to get them off for you.

make sure they don't charge you anything because its ridiculous to do so. the dealership that LOST my key tried to charge me to take them off, as well as to get a new set, i told them to eff off.

There are actually 8 different sets last time I checked...at least that is how many different keys the dealership told me they had...and that is how many we tried...

my key actually busted - the plate fell off the housing. My dealer replaced the lock nuts with regular lugs since they were only for my winter wheels - who's going to steal a set of bad looking wheels and tires? :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try the socket over the lug nut if not I'll take it over to a wheel shop thats not to far from the house. Thanks.

Autozone should have a wheel lug set just like that too. Or just order a new key in the mail through the old company or just wobble it over to the shop.

This worked really well, it came off easily. Thanks!!

instead of welding or pounding a socket onto the wheel lock, possibly damaging the socket, you can weld a nut to the lock and then use the proper sized socket to remove it.
