2020 smart key...Lost the back, trying to find replacement. Should I just give up and buy one of the silicone covers? I'd really like to have my back back but I can't seem to find them on-line. May not exist?

This smart key back cover will be a tough one to find a replacement if you’d checked online parts catalog. Since it’s new, there won’t be any used one available either. You can stop by your Mazda dealer snd check the latest parts catalog for 2020 MY, and even talk to parts manager and sales manager and see if they can make some special effort to get one from some channel to Mazda North American Opetations. If the dealer can’t help you, you may try to contact MNAO directly and see if they can help you.
Now, my question is, how is it possible the back cover would get lost since it has a key locking the cover tight and secure. Did you open the back cover before and may be didn’t put it back properly?

Take out the words "may be" out of your statement. Yeah, that little spring thumb tab.
