Lost a socket in tail light 'pocket' - tips on getting it out?

So my brake light went out and I was in the process of unscrewing the nut when my fingers slipped and I dropped my socket and extension in between the gap. I've read that it will fall where the spare is, but for the life of me I couldn't find it there.

Any tips?

If the magnet on a stick doesn't work, you'll have to remove the interior trim. Which as far as I know means you need to take the rear seat out. Pull up the floor to remove screw/fastner holding side trim on.

I'm sorry I had to laugh! The same thing happened to me over the winter with a screwdriver. Except mine went into the pocket where the front fender meets the door. I already know I have to take off some of the plastic on the bottom. If it went straight down then phunky's idea should work. Or you could tie it to the end of a fishing line.
