hey whats up, im looking for sponsorship for my car. i was wondering what the best way i can do this is? i can lend my car to companies to test and install new products in the NY tri state area for about a month from right now, until i get out of school. but anyway, any of u that are sponsored now, what did you do to get sponsored, how did you go about it. i have some mods done to my car already, and i plan on doing as many as i can this summer.

start looking for them after you do more of them. your cars fairly stock and companies arent in to that.

Yea you definitely need to invest alot more into the car and get out there to the big shows and win --- companies dont want to spend money on cars that wont help get them business in return.

How to Get Sponsored?

I used to race personal watercraft professionally and this is what I learned from dealing with potential sponsors:

1. Make sure you emphasize what you are prepared to do for the sponsor. Don't go talking to sponsors and say "Hey you should sponsor me and give me free goodies". Tell them what you intend to do for them that will attract potential future customers to their product.

2. Your idea of allowing them to install product is great. But make sure you also emphasize that you are willing to let them use your car for future advertising, promotional gatherings, car shows, etc.

3. Tell the companies that you are their representative (literally) and that you know how important it is to them that their image and your's portray's the company at all times. So don't get caught street racing where your car appears plastered all over the newspaper, etc. Sometimes bad advertising can be good though. But don't drive like an idiot when the companies logo or "Sponsored by" sticker is plastered on your car.

4. Ask the potential sponsor if they have any ideas to help market their product better than it already is. Just show that you are more concerned with helping the sponsor rather than what they will do for you.

5. Plaster everything with their logos and offer to help the company handout flyers (at car shows), answer any questions about their product to future customers, etc. Also keep the car clean at all times when its on display.

6. Contact future sponsors using a resume. And on your cover letter emphasize everything about you and the points I have raised above.

7. Lastly....try not to ask directly for over the top requests. Let the sponsor detrmine what he/she is willing to do for you in return for what you offer up. If they don't get to that point highlight to them again what your willing to do for them and then politely ask what you can get to help them market their product.

8. My mother advised me to keep my mouth shut at races and don't swear around kids who look up to you. Just try an maintain a friendly stance and the sponsors love it when fans, etc can talk to the person who owns the ride. People who get this kind of access to yourself usually listen and go and buy the sponsors product right away.

I may sound like a know it all (I don't mean to) but I kept my sponsors (Jetpilot, Smith Googles, Bombardier Seadoo) very happy and they in turn paid for my entry fee's, gave me tons of free product, and gave me deals on product that normally only employees get.

Good luck!

After you get some more stuff done write a letter to all the companies that you would like to spnsor you. include everything that pro5 said along with some pictures and shows you did last year and are going to do this year. If you have ever had your car in a booth at a show include that info as well, it helps. send out lots of letters and be prepared for rejection, not every one will sponsor you.

good info(group)

pro5 has allot of good things said. the other most important book is your written proposal. and i'm not talking about a 1 page letter. i'm talking a folder or binder. include information about who u are and the things you do. i'd be much more intrested in a kid if hes active in his community etc etc. show what you have to offer them as far as you being a positive for them to have u pushing their goods, because in return for product your basically a salesman for the company. tell them what your looking for out of a company such as the fact that u only want to be affiliated with the best companies honest companies etc. list all the awards your car has one, any air time on tv? any best of awards etc. etc. list all the shows u plan on attending. because your no good to a sponsor if your car sits in the garage. show pics of the cars good quality pics color on good paper. print out any pictures of the car that has shown up in any magazines or even sites like streetscourcemag.com or ministyles.com. those web sites go to allot of shows and although its not like a magazine, it still shows your cars getting some exposure. also thank them for reading your booklet and that u hope to hear from them. the nicer and neater your presentation, the more dedicated they will see you as. ive seen guys that have sent along dvd's of their cars info. anything to show that u will be an asset to their company.

my experience...you dont need a book or a thick package for your proposal.

my proposal was short and sweet. not even a whole page...1/2 - 2/3 of a page?

you gotta have good pics of your car.

they will not sponsor a stock car!

the key thing they look for is what have you accomplished with your car, what are your future plans and what is your ultimate goals.

usually companies dont give a rats ass about your car unless its going into a magazine or something with high circulations. you have to remember...companies get tons and tons of sponsorship request everyday. your just one out of the pile that they put a side...thats why short and sweet is the key. and nice pics of course.
