well i have started up my search again of my dream p5. this is going to be my first car and i was wondering what u experienced p5 owners would recommend for me to look out for in the used car's im looking at and what i should ask the dealer. im new to this, so anything would be great. thanx guys

Why not go for a new one? Maybe with a cosigner? I am sure you could get a new one at some dealership for not much more than a used one. They are prob desperate to get rid of them if there are any left.

i have gone to and called all the mazda dealers close to me and they are out of p5's. some of them shipped them to other dealers in the us. stinks i really dont need a cosigner having about 11k saved up and good credit. wish they would give a college student discount

$11k! You could almost buy a new one left on the lot for that! There are two new ones on the lot here in Baton Rouge (red & black) at Hollingsworth Mazda (www.hollingsworthmazda.com). Call them and make them an offer on one!

Buying a car long-distance isn't as hard as some people think. If you have to finance, get that lined up through a relative/bank/credit union before picking it up and it's a piece of cake!

If you can track one down, I would get a new one...they should practically give it to you for the same price as a moderately used one. Our cars really aren't worth s*** now ($-wise, that is).

That's what they are listing at, or did you bargain with them? That seems horribly overpriced.

I traded down recently for an '02 w/about 20,000. The windshield had a big $16,XXX slashed through w/a $13,XXX written below...of course, I didn't even pay $13,XXX.

I had an 03.5 loaded laser blue AT, and traded for an 02 black mica manual. I had recurring problems w/the AT and it scared me off...plus, I lowered my payments, insurance, gas expenditure, property taxes, etc. I'm happy with the trade.

Yes, it actually went against my credit. I am giving it another week and checking to make sure it was removed (as I was promised by the credit union).
