I've found the responses from TT to be a bit mixed. My last set of communications with TT was quite insulting (this was regarding my extension of service they offered). They've gone from being happy to help, really sorry, working on a fix....to.....you've had the fix, matter closed and no more will be said on the matter (the jist of the last email I got from them). So this flip flopping when dealing with customers appears to be the way they operate - lack consistency in their service.
Had to really push them to get any kind of extension from them. Given all the BS they put people through, the blaming everyone else approach they took and referring people to Mazda, it was they who ended up issuing the software update. Thankfully Mazda have been much more approachable and they understand the damage that has been done to the brand because of this. Certainly happy with what they offered me to resolve this.
Tomtom either don't understand or care about their own reputation and that's fine - best of luck to them. We are but a small percentage of their overall user base. Once my extension is up, I will think long and hard about taking out the subscription again, mostly due to Tomtom being hopeless and treating me badly. Seems TT either have agreed to or just assumed Mazda will deal with the fallout from this and it costs Mazda, not them. So good luck in haggling with TT, they don't seem to be too forthcoming and a wee bit arrogant.
Anyway, the fix is working reliably so far, the long winded reset does work on the odd occasion when it needed a kick. I'll happily wait for the shortcut change, I can live without it for now. Just glad I didn't choose the nav as an optional extra and it came with my car....which looking at the calendar I've now had for 1 year.
