Live traffic updates?

The long petition list.

Maybe the chap that didn't resolve his did something wrong?

Plenty on site have had problems with just updating the maps etc.

Could someone that now has the live services and traffic bar working as intended, post a screen pic pls?

Still working OK.

Twice today I lost all service and had the "umbrella" in the bottom corner, but on each occasion carried out the reset (clear) regime as suggested by TomTom and resolved the issue both times.

In Settings - Status & Information - Version Information - Network. Then hit the clear button bottom left, and then ok on the right.

Pity there is a route of 6 operations and hopefully on a future update this will have a dedicated shortcut, or even better that routine can be dispensed with by an auto operation.

Mazda. To be fair, at the end of this they have been very forthcoming, and meticulous in ensuring I'm all sorted on this.

TomTom. Slightly different story. Questionnaire in Dutch, putting ALL the blame upon Mazda, telling me EVERY time I needed to visit the dealership to have a hardware replacement and to date a very poor compensation package which I'm yet to agree to.

Time to move on though, and I will negotiate/haggle extended services in the next week or two.

Tom Tom fix doesn't work for me. I installed it two days ago, it says it is trying to connect, then after a few minutes the umbrella symbol appears on the screen. When I use the clear button it tries to connect again, but always fails.

I had been connected anyway for the last few months with no issues, installed the update and there definately a quicker connection with this software

Using my sat nav today, had the dreaded umbrella sign on my sat nav.it had been connected earlier in the day.
Looked into the menu and there was the normal connecting and no sim details.

Within five minutes the unit had connected and everything was back to normal.
It looks like that this update has solved the problem as the last time I had the umbrella sign,it was weeks before it re connected.

Things have developed somewhat as can be seen on the TomTom forums HERE The link by the way is part way through the thread, but feel free to continue into the following page(s)

There has been some suggestions re the "Clear" facility, and the fact that the need to follow a 6 screen scroll through to eradicate or reset Live Services is a bit OTT. At first TomTom seemed happy to embrace the suggestion that perhaps a good idea to initiate a short-cut to that process, now they have suggested an alternative, and after all we have been through I personally feel is totally unacceptable.

I am fed up with phoning their customer services and being told the blame lies elsewhere, then to find ultimately it was all down to TomTom themselves, so I hope they will listen to us and get it sorted.

I've found the responses from TT to be a bit mixed. My last set of communications with TT was quite insulting (this was regarding my extension of service they offered). They've gone from being happy to help, really sorry, working on a fix....to.....you've had the fix, matter closed and no more will be said on the matter (the jist of the last email I got from them). So this flip flopping when dealing with customers appears to be the way they operate - lack consistency in their service.

Had to really push them to get any kind of extension from them. Given all the BS they put people through, the blaming everyone else approach they took and referring people to Mazda, it was they who ended up issuing the software update. Thankfully Mazda have been much more approachable and they understand the damage that has been done to the brand because of this. Certainly happy with what they offered me to resolve this.

Tomtom either don't understand or care about their own reputation and that's fine - best of luck to them. We are but a small percentage of their overall user base. Once my extension is up, I will think long and hard about taking out the subscription again, mostly due to Tomtom being hopeless and treating me badly. Seems TT either have agreed to or just assumed Mazda will deal with the fallout from this and it costs Mazda, not them. So good luck in haggling with TT, they don't seem to be too forthcoming and a wee bit arrogant.

Anyway, the fix is working reliably so far, the long winded reset does work on the odd occasion when it needed a kick. I'll happily wait for the shortcut change, I can live without it for now. Just glad I didn't choose the nav as an optional extra and it came with my car....which looking at the calendar I've now had for 1 year.
