Just picked up a new 6 (Homer drooling noises)
Just one thing.... so far.
The lights are always on, even when the switch says OFF, nothing about it in the manual.
Spoke to the salesman and he said "oh yes, it's EU rules" (for all in the US) the EU is the european dictator who now rules our every waking minute.

He said all new cars must have lights on when operating.
1. Is this true, or is it sales speak for I don't know how to turn them off

2. Is there any way I can turn them off during the hours of daylight? Because if it is not dark then I don't need nanny to tell me how to live/drive.
If it's foggy I'll put them on, if it's overcast and raining I'll put them on. If we have an eclipse I'll put them on. BUt if the sub shines I want them OFF!

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

depending on the car and where your country of origin you may have daytime running lights. If so equipped yes your headlights will be on while the car is on...

I don't know about the US, but Canada has had Daytime Running lights in legislation for... lord, I don't know, but even my '91 Z24 had running lights. I remember I would wear out my E Brake intentionally just so I could click it a notch and turn off the running lights to get full effect of my GTS headlight covers. Ohh to be young again...

The rear view mirror does have auto lights gizmo on it, I will fiddle with it, though the lights are on when the sun is out too! So it may be the EU and I have to live with it. Thanks all.......

It sounds like the daytime running lights. It's not your actual headlights that are on, but a different bulb to just 'light up' your headlight to make you more visible.

i'm sure theres just a fuse or relay you could pull/modify to get rid of them...
