License plate LEDs installed

Installed a pair of hi-power two LED flanks I bought from VLEDS in the past.I'm glad I did because they don't sell that LED anymore. The 4 LED flanks are too bright to me.
I have four 3175 LEDs on order for maps and rear dome.
I also installed a VLEDS 3022 LED in the cargo and it does a nice job.
I wish Mazda would have went with a 194/168 bulb instead of festoons.

I was reading when doing the fogs to LEDs,you must crimp the metal piece to fit the LEDs.I'm not fond of doing that, though.

I don't think you have to crimp the glair shield for every LED bulb out there. I just ordered some vled H11s to put in my fogs. They look short enough so hopefully I won't have to rip out anything.

e know how the VLEDS
That good news.
Please let me know how the VLEDS fit and which ones you bought.

$60 for two bulbs?! Wow, that is a lot of money for two bulbs.
Got them 25% off on the 4th of July sale. They should match the 5000k hid kit that is also on its way as well as my LED fog light assembly. Cheap eBay LEDs are almost always 6000k or more, way too blue. These should also last the life of my car. Since I usually keep my cars 10 years or more, it only amounts to about 4.5$ a year in the end. Subtract from that the gas I'll save from the slight energy savings and they basically come out free. I don't think fee is very expensive...

I got the 10 LED ones in 5000k color. I'll let you know how they fit once I get them and have time to put them in.

Just read this review on VLEDS on those LEDs.

I just acquired a 2015 Mazda CX-5 with the factory HID headlights and fog lights. The HIDs have a nice (4300K) white color but the halogen fog lights simply looked dingy in comparison. H-11 bulbs normally have the end tip blacked out to prevent oncoming drivers from having to stare directly at the filament. The CX-5 fog light housing also has a metal end cap on an arm which is screwed into the reflector. Other retrofitted LED bulbs often have to have the end cap removed.

I was happy that these bulbs were a perfect fit and have a nice, white light which very closely matches the color temp of my HIDs. They are perhaps a bit brighter than the halogen bulbs and would be hideously bright if the fixture end cap didn't cover the 2 forward-firing LEDs behind a convex lens. All the light emitted from the fixture is from the 8 side-firing LEDs - exactly as a fog light is designed to do.

Absolutely no hassle install process. My initial satisfaction is very positive with these. (Posted on 5/31/14)

Great news joe427! I would have sold them rather than having to break something off my precious car. Happy I won't have to do that!

vroom, are you going go LED 921 reverse bulbs?
Probably not. I don't drive backwards enough for it to be worth it! ;) I did get some for my license plate though. I might eventually try out the white/amber switchbacks for my front parking lights, but that should be all.

That was the review I wrote. I can definitely confirm the VLED H11 LEDs fit the CX-5 foglight with NO modification needed. I went with 5K and quite happy.

Just installed the last of the VLED Triton bulbs so I'm now 100% tungsten free! Of course, this time of year we don't use our lights that much...

It was you!(drinks)
How did you do the install?

Fogs were the most difficult because you have to remove some of the fasteners which hold the plastic shrouds under the front bumper. You don't have to completely remove the shroud but enough to allow you to bend back the plastic enough to reach in to access the fixture. I think there are some other threads about which detail how to do this.

Nice thing with quality LEDs is you won't have to replace them that often.

I've played around down there a bit while installing my LED fog assembly. Don't worry about it. If I can do it, you can. Once you gather the courage to rip out the plastic fasteners it's easy enough. They pop back in easily once you are done. I've also found that pulling back the plastic at the front of the wheel well can give you somewhat better access.

Helps also to have the front of the vehicle up a bit on jack stands although I'm very nervous working under a car on stands. Also helps if you turn the wheel inward to give you some additional room to work around. I put mine in when the CX-5 was 2 weeks old. Hated disassembling things that aren't even dirty yet. Having the dazzle factor with the LEDs is worth it.

After almost 20 years of servicing cars, I hated disassembling things that WERE dirty ;) But now, I don't have access to a lift, all my work is done with jack stands (or Rhino Ramps). Been doing this for a couple years now. Why are you nervous? Just use common sense and have a backup plan, such as a jack under a central part of the car, or even a wheel under the suspension in case of failure. No problems. (thumb)
