LF-A first drive

build it just cuz you can....that's what this sounds like. too bad the performance isn't worth the $$$.

but maybe a few years down the road it will be worth something.

the reading is pretty badass though, how they made certain things is really just plain crazy

i still think they should bring back the supra. it would basically be a cheaper verison of the ISF, but that would be the point wouldnt it?

Yeah, I'd never drop $400k on a car, but with any luck, the lessons they learn in developing this car will trickle down into more affordable sportscars. You know, if Toyota ever decides to make a sportscar for the common man again. Ever.

so the subaru side of the ft-86 will be turbo and awd
they made it look sti like also.

if they price it 2-3k above ms3 prices, they should do really well.

I've always been a toyota guy at heart and to finally here that this car is released is awesome!!! I can't wait to for toyota to bring something affordable back. Or maybe if I strike it rich I'll be able to get my hands on something similar to the LFA.

that subby FT-86 render looks much better than the Toyota FT86 car.

they just need to get rid of the hood scoop and make the fenders sharper instead of being rounded

i think the toyota FT86 is ugly so is the LF-A

just look at the difference between the two

there's a lot to like from lexus, but they should stick with their game....

not all that keen on a car like this anymore... yes it looks cool. well, parts of it. (didn't care for that back-end look on the lambo, either) ... so refined, etc. etc. and why the huge price tag? BFD, so unobtainable, stuff it, lexus. if they set out to make a supercar from scratch, and 're-write the book', then why are cars one quarter the price just as fast? or faster?

i would rather see toyota build something to compete in the price area of the MS3... something we could all enjoy. it irritates me that there is no 'hot hatch' from them. i guess toyota has decided that if you want performance from them, you better bring your wallet... a deeeeeeeep wallet ..... win for mazda!

or a 325~hp supra priced like a mustang. that would be an instant success, even if it looked stupid...kinda like the last supras did.... yeah, those cars looked dumb... big stupid wing, just funny looking front end, weird tucked in transom.... but as fast as those cars were, who cared? you didn't laugh at that funky wing when one was blowing you off, like so much cabbage. the power you can build with one of those is insane.

how about a corolla, or matrix, with a real engine, like we have?

or a tacoma pickup performance version with 4.7 V8 and really hot one with the 5.7????

A bunch of great points, but I think the reason for the LF-A was a true test for Toyota to see if they could build a car of their own from scratch... All the research and development of this car is going to trickle down. So sure its not the fastest supercar out there, WAYY overpriced but its not like they planned to build this thing very year?

As for Toyota building a car similar to the MS3. I honestly believe that's what their Matrix XRS and Corolla S are for. When Toyota bought into Subaru that was a clear indication that they were shooting to get back into the market with the MS3. The rumoured FT86 and new Subaru are going to really spice things up when/if they arrive. I'm really digging the looking (both). Besides I think its time Toyota came out with something similar to the 350z, heck even Hyundai is trying to get steal some of the market with the Genesis.

omg you can't be serious...that last supra is TIMELESS. just like the 3rd gen rx7

or a tacoma pickup performance version with 4.7 V8 and really hot one with the 5.7????

oh i would definitly go for that. i've got an sr5 tacoma now but always wanted the Xrunner. and if i trolled those forums im sure i'd find someone who dropped in the 5.7

it wasn't timeless until it was proven... it was a GOOFY looking car to me when first introduced.. yeah, they look good now... i like them a lot. that cross-eyed looking front end had to grow on me. but the best looking ones are without that silly st. louis arch wing.....

the 3rd gen rx-7 was a beautiful car, right from the start.
