Well I personally had a fan-freaking-tastic weekend.
Friday I stopped at Marcs to swap my exhaust from the MagnaFlow to the CPe dual exhaust. With Marc and Jakes help we were able to bang it out pretty quickly. The DP was rubbing the drive shaft so we had to nudge everything over a bit, but all is well now. It's much louder and drones like a mother eff'er. But it sounds really good so I'll just have to deal with it. Thanks again for the help and for letting me use the lift, Marc and Jake!
Handed off Fatty to Mark and Jake to tune Saturday and they came back saying everything was looking good and was all done. Money SO well spent. She pulls so much harder now up to redline and is very smooth. Those cats did a great job and I can't thank them enough!
Replaced the sticky rear brake caliper Saturday night and Dave helped me bleed the brakes the old school way and got a firm brake pedal again.
Sunday morning auto-x in Painsville. I was 1.01 seconds slower than Peaches with fastest time of the day but it doesn't really count since there were only 16 cars there and most were in G Stock. But I did beat the WRX in my SM class so I was happy about that. And Fatty managed to get through the whole course without a single cone tagged. I think this old dog is finally learning some new tricks.
Monday at Mid-Ohio was an absolute blast. Will was a great instructor, very informative, supportive and was able to instruct without pressure. And thank god for the helmet mic system or else I wouldn't be able to hear squat. I certainly need to get a setup for myself. The first two sessions were at parade lap speeds (I was in the novice group) but it was a nice refresher to learn the lines at a slower speed. Then the first hot session I spun while coming out of Thunder Valley, right into the grass. A slow ass 350Z gave me a point by and I wasn't able to get back onto the correct line and carried too much speed, late apex and totally botched it all up. Thankfully it was just a spin and no contact. Back onto the course, into the pits and back out for more fun. The Hoosiers felt good but i still don't think they got much heat into them with it being such a cold day and me driving like a grandpa. But as the sessions went on I got more confident on the course with the help of my awesome instructor and was able to push the car more while still driving in my comfort range. Next step is more speed and harder on the brakes. I wasn't using my brakes as much as I could, that's for sure. But the last session was a blast and we had the GoPro on the drivers side rear window so it should be fun to watch when it gets uploaded.
Thanks again to all my great friends, Marc, Jake, Mark, Dave and Will for all the help this weekend! (wiggle)
