Let's talk motor mounts

Ok guys, so i have had my msp for about 7 years now. I have a total love hate relationship with it, but lately i'm leaning more towards love. Anyway, my #3 motor mount collapsed about a year ago (pass side) and i replaced it with an AWR mount. This is the only aftermarket mount i am currently running. I was warned about the vibration and when i first got the mount i really loved the more pronounced engine note inside the car. Now stuff is starting to rattle, i mean really rattle. the rear view mirror rattles, the pass side door panel rattles, something in the engine compartment it rattling a lot. not very nice sounds. so my question is this: would putting in a stiffer front motor mount make the rattles more or less? conventional wisdom is telling me that stiffer is going to equal more vibration, but im wondering if "evening out" the mounts wouldn't actually reduce vibration? also, has anyone tried an engine damper setup? i really like to performance and reduced wheel hop i get from my awr mount, but the interior feels like it's gonna fall apart.

Front mount only = not bad. Front mount and rear mount = insane amount of vibration. Like embarrassed to take my non-car guy friends or in-laws for a drive in. After about 2 months I had the rear replaced with a stock one. I couldn't take the amount of vibrations in the cabin any longer.

Your stiffer front will increase vibration into the cabin, but it might not be really bad. And like tweety said, finding and eliminating interior rattles is your best bet. But I used weather stripping. Sticky on one side so it won't move, and foam on the other side so it absorbs any movement and eliminates rattle. You don't have to worry about it moving out of place like coins or paper.

yes i will be going through the interior and eliminating rattles, however i do not have a front or a rear mount, i have the pass side mount. thinking maybe i should replace that one with a factory mount and then purchase a front mount. may try the corksport one as they claim it has reduced vibration vs. other mounts. thoughts?

The inserts from CS will be less stiff than full solid mounts like the AWRs and still be an improvement over stock. I bet your front mount is bad as well. I would replace them all with solid mounts personally, you get used to the vibes and it runs and shifts so smooth. When you upgrade one mount it stresses the other original mounts much worse and can still cause the motor to move quite a bit.
