Leaked 2016 CX-5.

So if you don't want it blowing on your arm/face, yet you already have another window near the window that is closed. What is the point of even leaving the mode where it would blow from those vents?

Cause with the open/close slider, you can adjust how much air actually come out, and if one of us prefers air from one, but not both blowing at us, then we can turn one off and leave the other on. Every car I've had or been in either had the open/close slider, or would actually close all the way if you adjusted the vents properly.

As for the new head unit, it looks like it could fit into the current slot
It looks a bit odd. Like someone had a hard time fitting it in. There is a black frame which seems missing (mounted in) on the bottom side. How many display lines/pixels on that side got hidden under the dashboard now? :) It is weird that M6 got the unit mounted like M3 while CX-5 is probably going to get it implanted in the old spot. I also suspect the touchscreen to be easily controllable with the M3 style placement. Next, HUD for M3 only ATM? I feel these changes more subtle than I have been hoping for. Seats, probably not changed, look beautiful in this color combination.

It is hard to tell from photos and I hope the reality will be better than what I see on that picture. There can also be some differences between JP/US/EU version.

Im just guessing but maybe it has to do with the lower sitting position on the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. The new design of the interior on the 3 and 6 allows for the top of the dashboard to be lower increasing visibility. On the CX5 the sitting position is most likely higher so it really makes no difference.

I have a 12.3" infotainment screen in my GS350 which is fantastic but the CX nav screen size doesn't bother me as much as it's dull graphics.

This is the comment from Automobile magazine, about the Mazda3's infotainment:
"At 16.677 Second fix for the infotainment system's buggy software, which, for some odd reason, kills all audio function and turns the screen blue.
Fingers crossed this latest update does the trick."
So, I don't know, how good is that infotainment?! Everybody here, has high hopes for that system.

Thanks Very Much Liberty, so glad to see the interior upgrades
as well. Watched the Press Conference and saw the new models
and especially the CX5.

Hoping it will be available first of the year or Spring.

Thanks again !!!

Take Care,

CK

Thanks, just what I was looking for! Off topic but I'm really liking those new rims!

I know I'm going to.Frankenstein my car a little if it works. I'd swap the arm rest, and the piano finish window switch trim. I always thought ours (2014) with the striped trim was tacky. I like those pillar surrounds near the climate control...will have to wait and see. Hopefully some of those are easy bolt ons.

Sounds great, but no direct mention of new infotainment.
From that link:

The 2016 Mazda CX-5 features the following enhancements. While the exterior retains its distinctive SUV looks, the updates to the front grille and other design features refresh the model with the latest design expression of the Mazda brand. For the interior, particular effort went into improving the quality feel of the ornamentation and materials used, and also to improving the functionality and usability of the cockpit zone, based on Mazda’s unique Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Enhancements to dynamic performance include updates to the front and rear seats and suspension system, as well as to sound insulation performance throughout the body. The result is greater ride comfort and cabin quietness that makes time spent in the vehicle more pleasant. Mazda’s renowned AWD system is also updated and real-world fuel economy improved. The 2.5L FWD engine has seen an improvement in its fuel economy as well.

The '16 improvements look nice but all of this is inevitable. This is just normal evolution in the auto industry.

Here's one confirming it.

Inside, the CX-5 gains Mazdas latest infotainment and connectivity systemthe ominously named Human-Machine Interfacewhich brings with it a center-console-mounted control knob like those in German luxury cars. We have used Mazdas system many times in the 3 and the 6, and its as simple to use as you like and quick to respond to inputs, too.

Awesome! Looks like the same display as 2014, but has the Mazda3 infotainment software. That is good news because it means 2013-2014 can update their infotainment. It least it will fit. Might have to pony up for the electronics.

Like the "sport" switch on the shifter. Looks like it lets user turn off the eco shifting scheme on demand.

Not the same display-- looks like it fits into roughly the same cutout, but the screen is much bigger because Mazda dropped the physical button and knobs-- functionality presumably handled by the iDial thing by the cupholders.
