Launching the Proteg 5 - 5 Speed
Alright so tonight I had nothing to do and decided I'd go out and practice my launches. I found a nice smooth, deserted strip of pavement to practice on. Results are as follows:
1st Launch: Perfect. Little tire squeel but no slipping or wheel hop. I lifeted the clutch so that it was sitting just below the friction point. I revved it to about 1200RPM, floored it and dumped the clutch.
2nd launch: Drop the clutch from the floor. Crazy wheel hop. Really bad launch. Guess I won't be launching like that anymore...
3rd, 4th, 5th Launch: Tried to do what I did with the first launch only to get wheelhop. I couldn't replicate my 1st launch after 3 tries. I don't know how I did it the first time!
Anyways I guess I need more practice to get it perfect everytime.
Now my question to you guys: What do you find is the best way to launch the P5; what gets you your best times? And please don't say to warm up your tires first by doing burnouts....
TIA.
Matt
