This thread pretty much explains everything you need to know, man.

1. download mame (and frontend if you need to) and invest some money in controllers

2. download appropriate rom

3. download appropriate .chd file

4. ???

5. profit

Ok so we DL'd MAM32 and the KI ROM (zipped) ... dumped the zip file into the ROMS folder .. what about that chd file?

it's MAME32 ... i think there's a setting in which you can have all of your games windowed by default.

i've never found the KI chd file. i never really knew what i needed to get those roms to work. if i d/led a rom that didn't work right away i assumed it was broken or something (hand). what do you do with the chd file?

yyou put it in the kinst dir (for ki1) in the roms dir. basically certain games run external data cause they are so graphic intensive (like carnEvil and such where alot of vvideo is happening) so they arent onboard like the ROM. thats what the CHD's are, its the data thats not on the mainboard.

everything that runs the rom should be inside its zip folder. you don't need to "install" it or anything. just drop into your directory and run it. you have to tell MAME the directory of your roms (if it's not in the default location). it will load the roms and then tell you which games are available.
