Keyless Remote

Does anyone know how to program a replacement keyless remote for a 2004 Mazda3 S hatchback?

I have tried the instructions that came with the remote from ebay, but the car does not respond the way they say it should....on / off three times, close/open door three times, then car should lock and unlock once...the last does not happen ??????

Any idea why this would not work???? I have tried about 100 times and nothing happens after step 5.

Probably a bad key fob, make sure, I know this seems obvious, that there is a battery in the fob

Thankx for your responses. I still could not get it to work so I am going to have to bite it and see if I can get a resonable price on programming from the dealer. I did try a new battery..thankx for the suggestion.

It's also possible that since you bought it off of ebay that they gave you the remote for a different Mazda vehicle. Lots of ebay remotes aren't actually for the vehicles they're advertised as being for.

I used this when i got a flip key for my 2004 Mazda3 Sport. basically I took a 2006 Mazda6 Flip Key and reprogrammed it for my 3. The steps on programming a remote should be the same tho. It's the latter half of the first post that explains the programming of the fob. In your case, ignore the first part, that's for programming the key for the ignition.

Thankx guys...turns out there is something wrong with the ECU is guess...the new key fab is sending a signal and the directions listed above are correct, but the darn thing won't program. Hopefully the dealer tech can fix it under warranty.

THANKS! for this walkthru on how to program a remote...the dealership that i bought the car off of didnt have any remotes for it ...so i bought one off of ebay for $4.75 instead of paying 127.00 at the mazda dealership!...was fast and easy to do ....
