keyless entry

I think in the begining I stated that the instructions might not be complete and that you should follow the instructions that come with the new remote. I put what I could remember of the instructions there just to give you an idea of how easy it is to program because I sense some fear of programming and letting the dealer do it for a lot more money. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

I was able to reprogram my remotes but the correct way to do it was not listed in this thread. once you do the on and off you must remove the key from the ignition(that is the step that was left out)

hey no worries man. i appreciate the info. i went to one dealer while shopping with a friend(he bought a 2004 mazda3 sedan) and they wanted to charge me $90. i said hells no thats a warranty issue though they did'nt have the time to do it then. i used my same keys and did it myself when i found the other thread w/ instructions...just glad it worked. thanks though

Does anyone know if you can reprogram the remote buttons, such as the panic button, to do something like put the windows up and down?

the windows and locks are independent systems as far as i know. you might be able to integrate the two systems but i have no idea how you'd do it. might want to find someone who knows electric systems very well.

where dude...??

I got my remotes yesterday, they rock. Dead Easy to program. Instructions above should work fine.

Oh, and I got two for under $25 shipped.

Where u get them????????????????????????
(crazy)

yelpro03, thanks for the link. I needed to pick up an extra remote for my wife and the dealer wanted nearly $100. Got one on ebay (from remotes2003) - with shipping was about $23. Easy to program. Thanks big time. (thumb)

I got mine on ebay from member: remotesuperstore.

Basically I just searched for "Protege Remotes" and he had the best deal, and I got them in less than a week from the time I ordered them.

OH, here's the auction I won if it helps: |CLICK HERE|

Do you guys know if a transmitter from later years like 2002 or 2003 can be used on a Protege from 2000?

similar question - will american remote works on an overseas 2001 SP20 (P5)? we don't have the panic button on the remote. ;)

I was looking for replacement keyless entry remotes not too long ago and I found a site that had them really cheap for my 03 MSP and 98 Millenia.

I had them delivered in less than a week and the programming instructions only took maybe 10 seconds?

Anyways, here's a link to the site:

Just click the Mazda category, or type your model in their search box.

Thanks for the link! That site has everything. I wish they had the JDM remotes I've seen for our car (the key types ones).

I just bought a spare remote off ebay for like $5 and used the list posted above to program it. I also added the factory mazda alarm and it was pretty easy and straightforward.
