Key/Alarm Question

2003 Mazda Protege5
Hey guys, I see that people tend to respond pretty quickly. I borrowed my girlfriend's 2003 Protege5 today while my car is in the shop. My key fob is dead, and I'm at work and can't replace the battery. I know the alarm is touchy, but if I lock the car from the inside using the power lock button, then go to unlock the car using the key, will the alarm go off?

Thanks, I appreciate your help.

it shouldn't. I would do that sometimes. I would lock the doors from the inside and use the key to unlock the doors on days when i would go running and didn't want the key fob in my pocket. I don't know if there is a sensor or something in there. Because sometimes, I would use the key to lock the doors and it would lock all four doors, so it shouldn't go off if you are unlocking it.

By the way, welcome to the forum

Thanks so much, it did work. I just didn't want to try without knowing, and then set my alarm off in the middle of the parking lot with no easy way to turn it off. Thanks again.

using the key to lock / unlock the door with the stock alarm works exactly the same as using the fob to lock / unlock.

+1 actually with mine since I don't have the keyless thing the only way I can set my alrm is to lock it with the key on the drivers door. passenger side won't set it either
