so a little background...

first thing i did when i bought my car was buy an ebay SRI....
i soon after learned of the flaws of the ebay brand SRI.... first... the walls of the tubes were thin and easily heat soaked. my solution? ceramic engine paint.

next i decided i wanted true CAI... so i got some extra tubing and extended it into the wheel well just like the injen and k&n intakes.

and now, today, i finally broke down and got a K&N filter....

i was skeptical at first until i talked to my guy at advanced auto parts who assured me that i would be able to feel the difference ebtween the ebay 5 dollar filter and the K&N 60 dollar filter.

im glad i listened to him....

call me crazy but MY CAR PULLS CRAZY HARDER and ITS LIKE 3 TIMES LOUDER!!!

i was so unsure so i went for a test drive... and man wa si suprised! i didnt knwo the filter could be that much better?!?!?!

so i just wanted to say... if ur not using K&N... then please... do urself a favor and buy one.

that is all

Generic Ebay products, thought temptingly cheap, tend to perform as their value would suggest. Good to hear that your K&N has good performance!

yes. I have the ebay tube intake with a K&N, and have had one in every single car I have ever owned. Far superior engineering behind K&N

Or it is not all clogged like low end filters. i have seen the ebay filters rusted out, clogging it. That is what I mean.

yep, Raider is on right track, hehe

BTW!! DONT WASTE THAT MUCH MONEY ON K&N FILTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

go to www.ajusa.com and buy yourself a k&n filter for JUST a bit over 30 dollars. Thats what I do.

Or hit up Street Unit, as he can get them too. Buddyof mine ordered a Typhoon SRI for his 06 Si on Thursday.

stock airbox + filter made my car "PULL CRAZY HARDER" but sadly it wasn't "LIKE 3 TIMES LOUDER!!!" :(

Yea i bought the K&N filter a while back, before i bought my intake. Once installed i did feel a big difference. Still have it if anyone is interested in buying it? LOL

how about an AEM SRI with the AEM filter? would replacing that with a K&N make any difference?

The K&N drop-in air filter (that goes into the stock airbox) had no noticable gain for me. Apparently, it also deposits oil on the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor resulting in a CEL (Check Engine Light), so unless you're ready to clean the MAF at regular intervals, it may just be best to stick to OEM filters.

Thanks for the tip :)

I've had a K&N Stock Replacement filter in my car for well over 1 year now, and have had no such problem with a CEL from oil deposits on the MAF.

Maybe this is being caused after people clean and re-oil their filters?

Cheers.

I wonder how much of a difference there is between a K&N and something like an... Injen filter?

and anyone that buys a fram oil filter should be shot >_>

yes, their part number is HP-1008.

they're small a$$ things, my friend's dad's lawn mower uses a bigger oil filter than my 2000ES (poke) course, he's got a 4cycle diesel john deer riding mower..
