Just wanted to say hello

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone.

Found this forum during my search for information on a 09 CX-9.

I have sold my 03 Outback (love the Subaru AWD but not much else) and am now looking actively for an 09 CX-9 GT AWD. Have requested quotes from dealers but most of them are quoting invoice price or just slightly less.

Anyway, I'm in the Seattle, WA region and am sure that I'll be asking more questions in the future when I get my new ride.

Feel free to let me know if you hear of any good deals on CX-9 GT AWD.

Cheers,
Dan

An alternative method of shopping is to use carsdirect.com. Not sure if you are familiar with them, but in some states you get a no haggle pricing and you pick up the car from a local dealer. For Seattle unfortunately there's no direct price, but California does.

Easily $3.4k below invoice.

Hamproof,
Thanks for the heads up on carsdirect.com. I submitted a RFQ and will see what happens. Do you know if dealers are still getting shipments of 09s in or are they waiting for 2010s?

Thanks,
Dan

Don't know about 09 inventory. But I imagine Mazda won't be bringing in anymore 09 seeing 2010 models is just around the corner.

If you are using RFQ, you might be disappointed. I tried carsdirect.com in the past and you get a good experience if there's a direct price, since it is no haggle and it is a great price to boot w/o much aggravation. If it is RFQ, a local dealer will contact you and it is more or less a no haggle also, but much higher. Expect your savings to be cut in half at the least.

If you are buying, expect $7400 off MSRP.
If you currently own a Mazda, you qualify for another $1000 off as loyalty rebate.

Ceric,
thanks for the info. I've been looking around and are expecting to hear back from some dealers.

I've also seen the 2010 previews and while I'm not a fan of the exterior but can live with it, I'm wondering if the new interior features would be worth waiting for. The other question is will Mazda have dealer cash backs and incentives for the 2010s like the ones now.

I like everything about the GT except for the smart card system. Much rather have a fob like the touring that is smaller and not as fragile.

thoughts?

Three of my 4 vehicles have the smart key, and I love it. It's nice never having to remove my keys from my pocket. I like it so much it's a must have for my future vehicle purchases.

Force-1,
I like the keyless entry and keyless start. Just not a fan of the smart card carrying the chip. I might feel naked without a fob since I always have one.

Is it a problem if i had 2 smart cards in the car at the same time?

Dan

The smart card could be a lot smaller and smarter if you ask me. The reason it is so big now is because of the spare key in there. Without it, it could be literally the size of a iPod shuffle new or old.

It could be smarter because if you get the remote start, you have to carry along another fob. At least that's my findings prior to me deciding to forgo the remote start.

After 10 months of using the smart key I've begin to like it since once I'm out driving the car I never take it out of my pockets anymore. I lock and unlock using the door push button. For protection, I carry the smart key in a leather slipcase from an old wallet. Prevents it from nicks, lint and fading.

I saw two units of CX-9 come off the truck July 3 in Baltimore, MD, one AWD Sport, and one GT AWD (no nav), both black. This was a very low volume Mazda dealership (combined Mercury/Mazda).

I don't believe so. The only problem you might have is you shouldn't be able to lock the vehicle if you leave the 2nd inside. I know fellow Vette owners that leave a spare smart key in their car at all times, and they wrap it in tin foil to prevent the car from seeing it.

Two smart keys in my Cadillac STS at the same time is a problem though. When I pull on the door handle, the car senses my smart key, and automatically sets the seat, mirrors, steering wheel, HVAC, Bluetooth, and stereo to my settings. If my wife gets in before me, and has the STS smart key with her, it sets everything to her. That requires me to manually set my settings vai the Nav screen if I'm driving. Luckily she has her own vehicle, so rarely carries the STS smart key.

A dealer told me yesterday that there are 09s that just got offloaded and still at the port of entry.

The 09s seem to be at the right price with the dealer cash backs. Still haven't seen much information on the 2010s other than what's reported at the auto show. But i'm pretty sure the 2010s won't have the same deals as the 09s now.

Well, I finally picked up a 09 GT AWD in Stormy Blue yesterday. Comes with moonroof/bose and tow hitch/wiring, roof rack and all weather mats. I didn't want the assist or any other options. If I had my way, I probably won't have the moonroof/bose either but it seems that every GT out there has it even though it's an option.

One thing I noticed last night is that with the HIDs(my first car with HID), turning on and off the fogs was hardly noticeable. I think I might explore getting different bulbs soon. I would also like to turn the fogs into DRL so will be monitoring the other thread dicussing DRL mod.
