Just put on carbon fiber evo hood VIS

that's about it.. my hood is evo style too, with one vent.. well mine isn't so much evo "style" as it.. just has a Mitsubishi Evo IX vent.. in the hood. It's the actual OEM mitsu part.

It's just another style of aftermarket hood that is really popular, especially with us mazda peeps because it fits the lines of the hood and IMO flows really well with the design of the car in general.

is their any evo hoods that are laser bue?

Nope, they just come carbon fiber.. think of it like the stock hood, which just comes primered.. you gotta get her painted, which could cost anywhere from 200 to 900+ dollars :)

If you are planning on painting it save some money and go fiberglass. It's a lot easier to paint and the hood is cheeper. May weigh a few more pounds but nothing noticeable.

Painting CF is FINE unless the previous painter sanded the gelcoat right off, leaving bare exposed CF under the paint.. yeah um there was a thousand dollars of PPG global paint (price of paint alone, not including any labor at all) used in painting my hood.. took 5 or 6 tries, I can't even remember now. :P

no freakin way :)

it's just the actual vent piece from mitsubishi, still a hood specifically for the Protege.
ok i figured that, just making sure, lol

bump from the dead. Has anyone had any problems with this hood and water or snow leaking on the motor or anything like that.

That's what you will get with any vented hood unfortunately.

Some people blank the vents or direct water to go away from engine but blanking it make it look bit fake !

The OEM mitsubishi rain guard for my summer hood (fiber images) does a very decent job at keeping water out.. the piece is $100ish though.

thanks for all the responses, i got a cai, and a breather valve on the block and was kinda worried if i got a cf hood w/vents that it could somehow screw it up. Hydro lock or anything like that.

The vented hood will have no effect on the CAI at all since the filter is sitting behind your fog light. Which vented hood are you looking at? I don't know of any that place the vents far enough back that the breather filter would get affected. If you don't leave your plastic engine cover on your spark plugs might get wet though (ask me how I know (ughdance)).

I thought about the evo 8 style, I'm also considering the gb protegegarage is hosting. I don't have the engine cover on so my plugs could get fubar. Any way to mitigate that, besides putting the cover back on.

I just got the cover to solve that problem on my car. I have the fiber images evo hood.. with the 8/9 style vent (with OEM mitsu grille but not OEM mitsu rain guard)
