Cobb SF intake you won't regret it.

Keep the exhaust stock. It's fine.

I'm on the dyno again tomorrow. I can tell you it should be about 280 whp!

what about the mazdaspeed cold air intake kit are they any good if not why are the others better

SEARCH the forums, bud. There is a wealth of knowledge within!

BTW, if you are after the top 4 things to do to this car, it would be:

1. Intake (Cobb SRI, CP-E CAI, MS-CAI, etc.)
2. Downpipe/midpipe (not the catback...this car has a great stock exhaust.)
3. Standback or Piggyback, some form of engine management
4. Intercooler upgrade!

This alone and you'll be flyin'

Live by these rules and you will have at least a 350 wheel horsepower monster!!!
Who ever told you that an intake will make your car run worst is an idiot...sorry... Don't listen to them again!!!

BTW, CONGRATS on the new car!!!:)

anyone know where to buy these things and the links
and your input on these items good or bad
do you have these on your car or a friend
the more input the better

One of the often repeated complaints from external reviews is on the MS3's vague and rubbery shifting. I know a lot of people have been very happy with the TWM shifter bushings, which only costs about $35. Another popular mod would be the motor mounts. I personally don't have either of these, so I can't comment. I do have the MS CAI and have no complaints with it. I may have gone with the Cobb SRI, but it wasn't out when I got my CAI.

add a few broken stock connecting rods and theres your 350whp monster!

Broken rods...? What are you talking about? There is a MS6 running around with over 400 ft-lbs and almost 400 HP at the wheels...if I remember correctly, MS6s are equipped with our engines...

It happens. Pushing that much power, the engine simply isn't made for it stock.

300WHP is a nice goal that seems achievable enough, and makes the car wicked fast.

Really, what are you after? Speed costs money, how much are you willing to spend?

Me or Mr4X4King...?

My goal is 300 HP with 300+ ft-lbs @ the wheels... I have already trouble using the stock power... :)

But I am betting this engine can safely take 350 HP... Miata's 1.8L internals are good for 280 HP at the wheels...well maybe more... I knew a fellow Miata owner that supercharged his stock 1.8L to a little over 300hp at the crank with no issues what so ever...though his setup was tuned carefully...he drove is car daily to work and raced it four times a month, plus traveled cross country to the nationals...

any comments on the twm shiffeter bushings and the shifter or are there better short shifters out there

I'd like to know where people are getting their "max" hp numbers. More opinion with little fact to back it up.

I can not speak about the MS3, since I have the 3 GT, but I did upgrade to the TWM short throw and am happy with my decision. (I have not driven an MS3, afraid if I do -- I will be upset with my 3 and the power LOSS & my car is paid off), do you like the way the stock shifter feels? Once I upgraded -- the throws felt strong, I did not feel as though I needed to "force" it in gear at times and it went into gear easier. If so, leave it alone, if not TWM FTW!
