just for fun

i highly recommend a 1991 ford escort 'pony' edition for this style of driving... i know that's what i always used... mrs. squidmo's (her car when we started dating).... it's always more fun when it isn't your car.

it would work, but you have to tighten the hand brake, and pray that you dont break your mounts because you would get a lot of wheel hop considering the power of the car. i've actually done a reverse 180 in my spec several times because my g/f has seen videos of me at the bmw plant in s. carolina. if you want to have fun, take a driving course there, and they will teach you how to do it in an m3, m5, and i guess an m6 now. I use to go there all the time when my cousin was working for them. it was 1400 to 1800 back in 2002 and 2003, but im not sure how much it is anymore. also, a ms3 would be fairly easy to do a reverse 180 in considering the reverse and 1st are next to each other, unlike the reverse and 1st in my car being on opposite sides. also, try doing it in the rain or wet pavement first just because it's more forgiven on your tires and easier.

Back in the days when I was autocrossing a Saab, I disassembled the handbrake lever and turned the ratchet around. This makes it so you must push the button in to make the brake stay on and if you don't push the button, you can just pull and release to do the turn and don't ever get the thing stuck on. Make these antics much safer.

Couple of autocross trophies in a Celica using the handbrake turn at the end of a slalom.
