Yeah he said it right, before I bought the MS3, I was trying to hold off to see how the Genesis Coupe was going to be. Buttttttt I couldn't wait. So we will see how it is after the Speed is paid for or atleast have some money to put down on one.
That is if I want to get rid of the speed by then.
Yes but if you've ever driven an 05 and up S2000 (2.2 liter motor) you most likely wouldn't be disappointed unless you can't fit in one right (Designed for a small to avg size person) The car is a riot to drive, gets pretty good mpg, built from the ground up as a convertible, Honda reliability, Hand built motor with forged internals, light weight, 50/50 weight distribution, awesome ergonomics, 8200 redline, etc. It's not as fast in a straight line (5.3 zero to sixty / 13.9 - 14.1@around 99-103 mph in the 1/4) but the handling is excellent and so is the fun to drive factor.
s2000 are fun in fact i test dove a Suzuka blue S2k right before i bought my MS3. its a great car handles amazingly, but you have to rev the piss out of it to go anywhere. i would much rather drive a torquey car on the street than a torqueless wonder like the S2k. on a track who cares if you have no low end power you never use it, but in the street thats all you use. i used to own a 194whp all motor gsr powered civic and it would was fun but taking it up past 6k to get power is noisy and gets annoying fast(although shifting at 9500 is fun). for a street car id take a 370z, for track s2k
I just saw this on Inside Line:
Technology Can Bite
Time has been kind to our long-term Evo, because even with 6,000 miles on the clock, it's quicker than when we first tested it in July. It now tackles 60 mph in 5.4 seconds (5.1 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and runs the quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds at 99.7 mph. These results better its earlier performance by a few tenths, suggesting perhaps that its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine benefits from a few thousand miles of hard driving.
I thought the Evo, or the previous Evo did like a 13.4 1/4 mile? I don't see how this car is faster than the MS3.
so i'm gonna test drive a 370z tomorrow, hope i don't like ithehe
after reading all the reviews coming in now, i see no point in the s2k anymore, if i pass on the Z, i may just pick up a used miata and make that my toy and keep the ms3.
I'd most likely go with the S2000, I know it's not quite as quick but it's so much fun to drive and I like being able to put the top down and the high revving motor, wicked good shifter, etc. Oh and I fit in one like it was custum built for my body.
i've test driven an ap1 and ap2, and i prefer the ap1 by far, it's just more raw.
but at the price point of 33k msrp for the 370z w/sport package
and 34k for an s2k, it's just not worth it to me.
the s2k hasn't changed in the engine dept for 9 years.
plus nothing sounds like a well tuned 6. unless i really
wanted a convertible that bad the 370Z > s2k imo right now.
the s2k > 350z by far tho heh
I thought you liked torque? The ap2 is much better in this regard (not taking just about peak but throughout the entire rev range it feels stronger) and I've driven both as well. Plus the S2k has proven to be pretty much bullet proof reliability wise, I'm happy with the motor and changes aren't needed IMO. And I happen to love the sound of the S2k once the rpms start to climb so smoothly and effortlessly to 8200rpms. To each their own, you like the Z I like the S2k more
