Just bought MSP

This is my first post to the board. I've been reading it for the past few weeks though while doing research on what car to buy. Obviously I chose the MAZADASPEED.

The other cars I considered were the SRT-4 and the Mazda 3. I always thought I would get an SRT-4 since the day I saw it at the Detroit auto show. But a few things changed my mind. One is build quality. The Dodge is a nice car, no doubt, and will smoke the Protege, but I found the interior to be not as refined. Also, the overall feel was just too much motor and going fast and not enough 'driving experience,' if that makes sense?

I wasn't interested in a factory race car, but a fun to drive zippy car that was different than anything out there. I know the SRT-4 is in limited numbers, but already it's like 'you ain't cool unless you got an SRT-4.' I don't want to be part of that crowd.

I also looked at the 3, and probably would have bought it, but it didn't have the incentives that are currently offered for the MSP. And, ultimately, I am glad about that, because I think I will like this car better than the 3.

Out of curiosity what did other people on the forum pay for their MSP? I got mine for $200 over invoice plus a $2000 rebate and 3.9 APR. I think I got a good deal but just wondering how others faired?

Also, what is the first go fast upgrade I should do that won't void my warranty?

Oh, and are there any MSP owners in Montana on the boards?

Until my next post later, and hello all!

Welcome aboard.. I got mine in June for about 20400 out the door.. so trust me, =P you got it for a nice deal.. I think my roomie got his for 17500 a month and a half ago. Neways as far as mods to increase hp w/o voiding warrenty, I can't think of any. For the most part, from what I believe if a dealership sees a mod, they might give you some trouble, but some other ppl had good experiences, and dealerships were cool w/ it... so all in all... a fast mod that won't void your warrenty == ?

but fast mod for cheap $$ == I'd say a mbc.. but b careful

Yeah, I was thinking of a MBC too. And from what I understand from the dealership they are kind of impartial to the mods. But I don't want to take any chances I guess. If I do get an MBC and I need warranty work or anything I can just remove it and put it back to stock no prob.

my dealership wud give me probs w jus a TT.. =T

so i think my first mod will be an SS...

one thing i am curious about tho.. is ... when u take off the mbc isn't the boost guage still inside the car? =P

Oh yeah, boost guage. Forgot about that. Maybe I can just cover it with and empty McDonalds bag or something and they won't bother to clean up my garbage.

I was also thinking, you know to just skip getting a boost guage, and determining the boost by the sound. Yes folks, my ears are that sensitive. It comes from growing up in the wilds of Montana running with wolves and grizzly bears.

Though the part about the wolves and grizzly bears was absolutely true. I swear.

If you got the money go with an EBC. With an EBC the boost gauge is built in. Also your boost comes on smoother and with less boost spike. And the really nice thing is you can save up to four different boost setting and it gives you over boost warning system which will automatically retard your boost if it hits your preset boost limit. Also as far as I know if you get an exhaust it should only void your exhaust and not the whole car. And one more thing if you plan on keeping you stock IC I would get hard piping. I dont know about everyone else but I get some boost leak when I turn up the boost and really get on the car. Hard piping will get rid of this and it would look cool to.. :D

congrats... on the car.
To start, get a good boost gauge, an MBC, and an FCD.
TUne the MBC to 10psi, and the car is totally different. Less hestiation(more air in the engine), more acceleration, and overall, the car is where it should be from the factory.
Put on a K&N cone, and the turbo spool is louder, and the bypass is more noticeable.
ENjoy the car, and be careful. I see youre in Montana, so you should know by now about snow tires. Use them on the MSP. :)

Can I play?
