JosueP5's '03 Protege5 Build Thread.

Kartboy is my favorite short shifter in the P5. TWM's are very nice, but I love my Kartboy. Couple the shifter with the bushings and you're golden.

That's what was told to me...a lot of these parts are from companies that don't exist anymore. O. G. triple O. G. parts FTW!!! Haha

There's a yellow shifter bushing as well, up by the tranny. I forget the name, Evan has the same one though.

I have a Kartboy too and like them. Josh's P5 has the shifter bushings too. That's why it felt so natural when I got to drive it around the block... I heard that CorkSport bought Kartboy's design and was/are producing them now. But that's just what I heard.

A couple places have it listed as stock but don't actually have it. TWM is a 2" height reduction as well so that'll do, it's just 40 bucks more. If CS is making a repro they haven't listed it yet. Too bad because I'm cheap.

ps- Wes, I'm stealing, err, buying, the side motor mount inserts. Like everything on Josh's car, I swooped in quick, son! But I know he has the rear ones available. His front is a solid AWR mount.

Fine, I'm not helping you install the KL. :( The rear one was the only one I wasn't planning on fixing because it's impossibru to get to. I guess I'll stick with the window caulk mod, haha!

Aww, come on. Don't be like that...

I'll help you install the rear mount, it's not as bad as everyone makes it sound. Don't worry.

It shouldn't be a big deal, I'll just do the two sides and the front. I just need it to hold together until I do my swap, and I'll get all new mounts with the stiff compound. I just don't know how long the caulk takes to dry...

Yea! Putting in more work! lol

Had to take my brother's TBSS bumper to work and fix it. Tight squeeze!

Yesterday was also the 1st time loading up both dogs to head to the park! Couldn't get them to sit still enough to get a picture though. lol We're going down to the Gorge in the Falls after work for a hike, I'll try and snap one there.

My pooches! It's alright now because Henley's still a pup, but once he gets full grown, I'll have to fold the seats down. lol

They're also doing a NUMBER on the top of my rear bumper. :( I'll have to get some of that clear 3M protective film or something.

Also found a horn today! One of the guys at work had one off an older Acura RL laying around. Works like a charm!

Cute puppies. I use an old widow net from my race car zip tied to the front seat head rests to keep my dog in the back seat and cover the seat with a big towel this way she can hang her head out of the window at lower speeds and she won't get into the front seats. that would also stop the rear bumper from getting messed up.

They'd find a way to kick the towel up and mess up my leather. lol Unless I found some used king sized comforter at Goodwill and tucked it into every knook and crannie. Might do that anyway even with the seats down. Apollo, fawn/older one, likes to lean on the backs of the seats and just look out, so I need something to extend up and cover that area.

Mazda made OEM bumper cargo covers that go on top of the rear bumper.

We have a thick blanket that is made out of sweat shirt material that covers the backseat of my wifes CX-7 w/ leater seats we just tuck it in the seat crack and put it under the floor mates. our daughters BIG german shepard can't mess up the blanket.

Nah, I'd be defeating the purpose of this buy if I just threw them in the backseat. For all that, I could've just kept our 4dr Cavalier. lol

2 full grown boxers in a backseat gets very tight. We had 2 last summer and they were all over eachother back there. I wanted more room for them, something I could fold the seats down in, and the p5 is perfect. Just need to boxer proof it...haha

What's that like? Do you just unfold it from the inside and it covers the bumper? Or does it actually stay on the bumper?

Yup, that's it, Chris. I was going to get one when I was playing in the band and loading/unloading gear every weekend. But my P5 is no longer functional. heh-heh

That's a good price too, I think they're normally $50-ish.
