JosueP5's '03 Protege5 Build Thread.

All good points and the noise is also subjective...what one person thinks is awesome another might call rice. I just know a couple of guys who ran the Magnaflow and OBX and liked the sound. You rode in Evans, so you know how loud his is....comparable to that/quieter/louder?

It's definitely not as loud as Evan's, or projectblack's setup.

I'll have my fun and rock it for now, and if it does get annoying, I'll just change it up, no biggie! I gutted one of my cats on my truck, and just had a magnaflow muffler. It was awesome at first, but after about a year and a half, it started to give me a headache. Not sure if the muffler started to get worn out or what.

I can also see my MPG not being as good, since I'm always in it...hahaha

Good to see it's up and running man.

Thanks! I'll be over tomorrow, you can check it out if you're home.

Also got my clock spring in today. There are 2 different part numbers for these cars, and they couldn't decode which one I needed by VIN, so I had to order both and return whichever one I didn't need. Plugs were the same, but the keys on the inside were a little different. Good thing is I didn't even need to clear the air bag light that was on...it just went off!

UBER bad pic...but you can see the clock spring.

Also, where are the horns supposed to be at on these cars? Pretty sure I don't have any on here.

Not a fan of "cali-style"...

Lol you mean the Taurus blown rear suspension style.

Are the inserts for the other mounts in usable condition, or did you already pitch them? After 15+ years, my mounts are gone, and I need new ones. I'm planning on just filling them up with window caulk, which is a cost effective solution, and I've heard of guys running them like that for years. But if you have some inserts, I might just do that.

I think your horn got deleted when he did that pusher fan set-up. I'll show you on mine tomorrow. You should upgrade to Hellas anyway. Stock Protege horns are just terrible... heh-heh

ps- Wes, I'm stealing, err, buying, the side motor mount inserts. Like everything on Josh's car, I swooped in quick, son! But I know he has the rear ones available. His front is a solid AWR mount.

Evan's got the inserts already. lol

Info on said Hella's pleasethankyou.

Here's a link to the Hella's. I know there are two different types out there, one being from Germany and louder and to be honest not sure if this is that set or not.

I have a Nautilus air horn that the wife got me for Christmas a few years ago. Requires a little cutting to the backside of the grill but nothing too major. Check out the "here" link to hear 139db of pure goodness when someone cuts you off. :)

If you simply want a stocker you can have mine for shipping.

Cool! $60 for horns is a little much right now. How many are there? Just 1, or do these have a hi/low setup?

I have one FIAMM horn that came off some sort of SUV, it's plenty loud and you can get them for next to nothing at junkyards.

They look like this, I'm sure you've seen them:

They're just as loud as the hella's (and some of them even come as hi/low pairs) but not as flashy. Amazon has them new for $10 each.

Don't splice. Run a new relay and wiring. (I can help you with that). It makes a big difference in sound (and how many fuses you blow). They're power hungry horns.

Depends what you get, if you're only using one of those FIAMM horns the stock wiring can handle it with ease. With two I'd definitely add a separate fused circuit.

I'll have to take you up in that Phen...electrical is my kryptonite, short of being able to match the colored wires when installing a radio. lol

Also got the title swithed over this morning, big relief!!! I was so worried that the title wasn't filled out right, and I'd need him to do something else for me to get an OH title. Lord knows he wouldn't have been helpfull with that, since he couldn't even mail me the ******* wheel key, even AFTER he said he would....TWICE. Cockbag...

Looked through your thread and didn't see anything...what short shift is in the car? I've had that MS knob laying around for years and am just now getting around to tossing it in the car. Was curious what the height would be with the knob on a TWM SS.

His for sale thread says Kartboy short shifter and Shaun Darbie shift boot. Looks like he installed them back in 06-ish.
