JosueP5's '03 Protege5 Build Thread.

Well, still no word from the previous owner and my key....unbelievable. That's what I get for trusting people...

Messed around for a bit before Evan, Wes, and Pablo showed up for some welding action. 12 point's didn't work on the lugs though. One size was to big, the next size down was way too small, it'd take a sledge to beat it on these lugs. A 17mm 6 point DID fit over them, and I was able to get 1 lug off, but then I couldn't get the lug out of the socket. So, it's off to Sears in the morning. They have a damaged bolt/nut remover that should work. $60 for a set that I'll use once, but....what am I gonna do ya know?

Random pics...

Took off the carbon fiber spoiler. Prolly spray this one black to break up all the red now.

Is there a stock 3rd brake light that goes under here or something?? It looks awefully bare, and there's a hole right there for a harness to go though. The carbon fiber spoiler has a 3rd on it, but I didn't know if it was the stock one or if it came with the spoiler. I compared the 2, and I didn't see a way for it to bolt to the original spoiler?

The paint is bad under the carbon fiber mirror covers, so I'm going to spray them black as well.

Pulled the A/C compressor and P/S pump off...

Here you can see the big gap in between the steering wheel and the column where the clock spring is supposed to be.

Wires he cut and soldered into for the SSAFC...ugh.

Interior all torn apart...lol

Door speaker wires ran AROUND the plug instead of through...again, ugh.

Thanks again for welding up my header and Phens Civic mount! Shifting felt much better on the way home, heh-heh. And I'm super excited to add the CF bits. Thanks for everything, mate.

And as I said via text, your motor is out and ready for pick-up. I'll give it a good cleaneing tomorrow so she's ready for her new home. :)

corksport sells them for $180 new. You could get $250ish for I would think. The intake is for sure (i just put mine in) I'm sure the exhaust is too but I got the corsksport version so the cast # is different

Awesome! Now I need some parts from Marlon and this baby will be on the road!

Any idea on the OEM spoiler/3rd question up there?

$250 for the pair then?

Yep, there's a brake light under the spoiler.

Stupid question, but couldn't you weld a bolt to the keyed lugnut and use that to remove it?

There is a 3rd brake light under the spoiler. You can have mine if you like? It works and all the lights are still good.

Hahaha. They sure look cool! The red goes with the car. I'll have to look on Summit's website, see what it's going to cost for a new set.

Well, I had to put it back on so I could have something that held the lug nut while I beat the socket off. lol By the time I tried to take it off again, it was rounded off.

Ebay's got some good choices.

Is there anyway to measure my wheels' "acorn" pitch? I don't need to loose one, or all of my rims while driving down the road because the lugs didn't tighten all the way. LOL

Just make sure that they are anodized... painted ones are no good.
