JIC Magic and Turbo?

I was just wondering if the resonator on the JIC 505 Sus Catback would cause any backpressure or HP loss? I know removing it would make my JIC sound like crap though.

Hey Linux,

I have the JIC 505 SUS Cat-Back and removed its resonator (only 1.5" inside diameter) and replaced it with a 2.5" O.D. Magnaflow resonator. There will be less back pressure, but since you're turbo'd, that's a good thing. There will be a slight increase in HP due to the removal of the exhaust restriction. With the Magnaflow resonator in place, it does not sound like crap, just a bit louder than before.

Nice. I might have to do that. What's up Shawn. Do you have the part number for the MF you used??

Thanks, Rishie

I wanted the JIC exhaust but this is what held me back. I got the JIC canister and a magnaflow 2.5"ID high flow resonator and a full 2.5" exhaust. It sounds real nice with my setup, b4 i had no resonator and it was to loud for me, i had to keep the silencer in. Now no silencer and it sounds great.

i wanted to take an inside pic too, but i forgot my camera.

What was the cost of that resonator??

Prolly hear more turbo spool!

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the delay in responding. The resonator retails for about $60-$70 and can be bought at any muffler shop selling MagnaFlow products.

sure. i keep puting it off, probably just going to go to a 3" system next year, and keep the jic in one piece.

OMFG! I just got back from having this piece installed at Kinney's Exaust Shop in Bedford, (this is a REAL exhaust shop), and I gotta say what a difference! My s*** spools right up, and takes off a lot better than before. I accually got up to 100 MPH so quickly, when usually I am right around 80 MPH. I had to back it off. My boost also went higher, so I think I will have to lower the boost a little. I also had the guys take pictures of the inside diameter before, and after. I will try to scan the pictures soon, but you gotta see this! After you see the difference, you will be a believer.

good to hear.. when i had mine installed, it made no performance difference that i could reconize, but sure made it a lot quieter... The inside is a full 2.5"

The thing is, it's not really any louder, and doesn't feel that different, other than the fact that the speedo goes up faster. :D I noticed also that the wall I usually hit around 80 MPH does not exist anymore. I could accually feel it pulling all the way up to 100MPH without really struggling like it used to.
