JIC 505 SUS exhaust ??'s

I wanted some opinions of people who have this exhaust installed.
How is the sound when cruisin on the hwy?
Is it annoyingly loud?
Are you happy with your purchase?
Does it look riced out?
Do you have a high flow cat? How does this effect(sp) the exhaust?

just looking for overall opinions, i plan on buying this fairly soon. Unless it is not advised. I dont want an exhaust that is gonna wake my neighbors up either.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

From what I understand it's one of the best. There is information on it in here, and there is a sound clip somewhere.

alright ill try to answer these as best as possible.

the sound at 3k rpm is pretty loud, but JIC includes a silencer with the exhaust so you can take care of that.

its not annoyingly loud, i like it actually, you'll get used to it.

im very happy w/ my purchase :)

the canister is very small, as is the tip, so its not "riced out" w/ the mp3 it almost looks like the stock tip only you get better performance.

no highflow cat, but i will have one soon along w/ my turbo kit.

heres a pic of it....

Paul - have the guy who did my exhaust do yours once your boosted. :-)

Would the jic exhaust fit the msp and would it be a good addon?
Would it actually increase horsepower on the msp or would it hinder or not do a thing?

it will fit the msp as far as we know.

yes it would increase performance, since the piping size would increase = less back pressure = happy turbo = more hp

IT will fit the MSP and you will see gains. Piping diameter is larger than stock and flow properties are better. I have had the Bosal, Racing Beat, and now finally the JIC on my Protege5 and just by simply hearing it you can tell that it flows very well at all RPMs. Something I had yet to hear from the other two. The Bosal soundded farty at low RPM, full throttle, not enough backpressure. And the Racing Beat didn't have anything until later where it sounded like it was suffocating a bit. You could feel the difference in responsiveness at relative RPMs. The JIC on the other hand sounded consistent all throughout. It's not loud to me at all. But I'm used to racing RX7's with practically open exhausts, or the equivalent on a piston engine. hehe.

The sound is extremely appealing, a nice deep hum.

I too have the JIC on my MP3 with a custom midsection. It sounds sooo good, and not farty at all. Thanks Rishie for the good deal!

do you have a pic with the silencer in? does that affect performance?

I like the fit on the mp3, i like how it doesnt stick past the muffler.

nah no pic of it w/ the silencer in. i can get some if you'd like, but just imagine that muffler, w/ a silencer similar to that of apexi exhaust.

id be willing to save up my pennies if i could get a good deal on this exhaust.please someone pm me and tell me how good of a deal they can get me....

there is a debate goin on inside my head right now wether i should get the magnus exhaust system or this jic. it all hinges on if the magnus exhaust has a downpipe included. if yes, the magnus, if no, the jic. i have a friend with hookups on jic stuff. i also got ziel motorsports 30 min away from me. so getting jic would be no issue for me.

Is the pipe diameter 60mm? i remember reading this some where

which would make it 2.36"

Would it be possible to just buy this muffler and get custom 2.5" piping done?

You can do that. JIC offers universal canisters. However the inlet diameter will either be 60mm or 80mm. It's up to you. They offer them in titanium as well.

Now i feel that the majority of people are making too much of the extra 0.2in of diameter. The JIC exhaust flows extremely well and probably better than a custom made, crimped or whatever, 2.5" system. JIC has engineered this to have optimal flow.

I will however discuss with JIC the degree of difficulty to produce a larger diameter system for turbo applications.
