Which do you prefer? I'm going to buy one or the other. Which is better? Pros and cons?

Well I have jack stands & they're pretty cool, but I will probably end up getting ramps too. I just use them for oil changes. If you get jack stands, make sure their minimum height & your jack's maximum height are far enough apart to make it easy to use them. I made that mistake when I bought my 1st set.

i would rather have ramps, but every car ive owned doesn't fit on the ancient ramps my dad has at home so i use jack stands. you will need jack stands though to do brake/wheel/suspension stuff, but for quick things like oil changes ramps are good.

Jacks....lowered car...bad idea....(cant get a normal jack underneath)
Ramps...lowered car...bad idea.... (scraping on the way up & down)

just something I noticed...lol

Drive up on the 2x6 boards.

Not lowered (yet). Going to install my new exhaust. I think I'll be fine with ramps, yeah?

jack stands and a pneumatic floor jack... its gonna be a little more expensive in the beginning but you won't regret it.
it takes about 30 seconds to do each side. as a plus, jack stands are safer and easier to store.

P.S. Get craftsman so you won't have to worry about a seal going out on the jack (you just take it and get a new one).

Yeah, a floor jack would be cool. Don't have the dough right now, but that is definetly in the plans. A racing-style one too, that is low enough to put under a lowered car and is really light.

Exactly! Its great to have both. A jack for struts and spring work...a ramp for oil & exhaust changes...etc. etc.

jacks no questions. i have a gouge in my front fender from trying to use ramp at stock hieght. I am assuming they are taller than what others use. With jacks you can work on wheels and brakes.

I got my floor jack, 2 jack stands, 2 foldable wheel chocks, & a 14" chrome lug wrench (the X kind) for less than $35 at Walmart. They sell it as a package thing, which I bought at the same time I got my MSP.

$35? hope that s*** dont break on you man..

personally id be weary of anything from walmart. damn you sam walton.

I'd say get all of them. I can think of a use for just about anything. When I helped my friend change the clutch in his RX7, we just jacked it up and put it on 4 ramps so we'd have clearance to drop the tranny. Jackstands are good for just about anything that requires taking the wheels off. And no garage is complete without a nice rolling floor jack. My 3 1/2 ton jack could lift the whole side of the pro at once...made tire rotations a breeze.

They're made by MACK...maybe you're familiar with some of their other products:

I think it has a 20" lift.

That will be my next purchase when I get a bigger house. They are actually pretty affordable. Most lifts start at about 2500 bucks or less.

are you getting a lift with posts, scissors, or an actual mobile lift?
