Jack Point Help!

So, it is time to remove my balance shafts. To do so, I need the front end of the car off the ground; however, when I jack the car from the front jack point, the entire side of the car, front and rear, come off the ground. I also have a floor jack I could use but dont know where to use it. Does everyones car have this problem or does it maybe have something to do with the lowering? please help
