It NEVER FREAKIN FAILS TO AMAZE ME

i was just stating if u wanted to keep the car u will probably have to make some sacrifices. if u dont want aftermarket then u will probably just get cut a check for the loss of u car.

Lets see if they give me a choice. Having 2 would be good. The ambulance chasers im sure will start calling tomorrow when the sunday paper comes out. All I really want are things back the way they were or better, no worse.

they wont give u the car and cut u a check they will total the car and cut u a check and u have to option to buy it back and repair it with a salvage title.

I agree. The prices you posted seem accurate. Some of those items are used. Your car will never be the same. Also, remember this, your Mazda 3 will have a recored, so, everyone will now the vehicle has been wrecked.

Take a NEW Mazda 3s GT if possible. (flash)

thats what i say, take the loss throw most of ur money into a speed 3 keep about 2 grand of it for urself or use it for a nice set of rims.

I thought about the possibility of a new one, i like the new ones, but I loved the look of the previous gen. New ones, as cool as they are, can be perceived as fugly to a lot of people and no one digs the smile.

I have never dealt with an insurance company under someone elses fault before. They are going to have to deal with the medical bills, my car, and may have to work on a settlement if things dont seem fair to me. Im not going into this to be rich, but id like it to be done right.

And after second thought, maybe I could deal with some aftermarket parts assuming I can keep it classy.

its easy to keep it classy man. but if there is significant frame damage my guess is that ur car is a total.

ive got a pic of the frame damage. Its just at the right rear bumper level. You can see the rear wheel in the picture. As far as frame damage is concerned, its not too bad, just needs heated up, pulled out and back up where it belongs to make the bumper back where she belongs.

update, repair bill to progressive is 9800 bucks (which the adjustor didnt catch) plus anything else that isnt perfect when I get back in the car (which will take a month). Hopefully none of you have progressive, they told me the repair has to be 80% of value before they total.

Glad your fam was ok too looks like the front AND back of these cars are built tough.

If they would have totalled my car my option was a new 5 sport in blue or an 08\09 grand touring in that red color you have (those were my 2 choices I had it down to) BUT...they are fixing it so Oh well.

Here is my update, on 1st day his insurance co offered all med bills paid, car fixed, 1k diminutive value for car, and a decent pain and suffering package. Looks like my blue 3 will breathe new life and have her some goodies after all (autocross rim\tire set, xenons, led side sills, ms3 rear skirt, tinting), rest goes in savings.

When the lady comes to finalize it i also want her guarantee that this shmucks insurance goes up as much as it can too.

I was just talking about the mazdaspeed rear bumper, I SHOULD have bought a mazdaspeed but there were none in the 14-15k price range around here when I was shopping for a gently used one. Some of the folks have bought them for 13k which is nuts, wouldnt have mattered, either car would have been wrecked....BUT...

good news is im in a 2010 3 rental car, the bluetooth is awesome but the interior in mine kicks the 2010s ass imo, for some reason they made the dash rubbery instead of hard, but put the bottom of the dash where your legs touch it still hard...no sense at all.

Sorry to hear about your Mazda. I got hit by an effing Dakota a few months ago to the tune of $5800. He was on his cell phone and ran a red light. Anyway, it sounds like things are moving along for you, good luck with it.

Do you know about filing a diminished value claim? My estimator told me that after you get your car back from the body shop you have 30 days to file one. The insurance company will send you a check for the difference between what your car was worth before the accident and what it's worth after. In my negotiations with the adjuster, it basically boiled down to the difference between a "fair" and "good to excellent" value from a site like edmunds or NADA. Supposedly some insurance companies are really hard to deal with on this though and I'm not sure that they are required to do so. Something to think about anyway.

Hey cackalacky,
I hit progressive pretty hard for the DV claim and got 1500 after having to get them a barage of evidence...but since I used to work at a frame shop I pretty much dropped an email to them last Sunday and got the check the day after....also got $5020...lol @ the 20 for pain and suffering and lost wages + fixing my car + all med bills...so...I did ok. yes, If I had hired a lawyer they may have been able to go nuts ang get 10-15 but who cares, I wasnt out to get rich, but this whole ordeal has absorbed a month straight of my time and effort, gathering bills, calling people etc, so with 3 people in the car, 5020 is fair.

And JDM,

No ms3 in the works, just a clean car, tint, hid's, a few exterior tweaks but thats it. Thought about wheels, but no point in it for autocrossing for fun only, Ill just use stock.

Fixed (and de-molded) with ms3 rear skirt mod and paint

Looking good, it is amazing what they can do. When I saw the pics of the car with the hatch cut off I wondered how they could even get it re-attached and straight. Well it looks good and hope you do not have any new problems.
