My Wrecked 3 S Touring!!!!

2 days I had this car...2 effing days.

Accident in left lane broken glass, man waving everyone to go to right lane where 100ft up theres a red lite...a ton of traffic ..im in right lane...STOPPED...10 fwwt behind car in front of me when a bozo in dakota barrels into me at 35 mph. Luckily im smart enough to let off the brake to absorb some of them impact momentum and it pushes me into the car in front of me slightly but he jacked the car up..

I had my wife and 2 yr old son in the car (my 4yr old daughter luckily was not in the car) and after a neck check at the e.r. they r both fine (i toughed it out because it just feels like i played football for a day).

Car did its job, it stopped an overweight pickup hitting me and keeping the kids safe. Thank you mazda, your hatch is strong. F u dodge.

Anyway....thought youd like to see her demise.

PS after the hospital i drove her home.

Seriously, there are so many careless drivers out there who don't care to pay more attention to the road. Makes me scared to take my car out of the lot sometimes :/

Family's ok...he had insurance, gotta go pick up the wife's drugs. Maybe I can get a mazdaspeed rear bumper out of them. Gotta think positive and laugh about it.

I just took the car out to go pick up her meds at rite aid...still drives fine, sounds like the doors are open because the hatch has a 2 inch opening, what a well made car.

I was debating on picking up papajohns but I chose delivery at checkout. Im not going to press my luck.

Sadly the back seat has a visible half inch gap...maybe from the firemen taking out the baby seat and putting it in the ambulance..or maybe from the quarter panel being so badly twisted it move the mounts of the seat. If that parts twisted Im thinking her repairs could mount 50% of the cars value...and we all know what that means. ;-(

Rear deck lid, rear bumper (complete including rebar), tail lights, quarter panel, repainting of most of the car because its hit all around, frame damage at rear and frame damage at front as well wear fenders meet the windshield, hood damage (minor). 8k or more im guessing.

Took a better look at the fornt bumper and theres a crease thats unrepairable on the front which includes the grill....thats another 700 bucks after paint.

Sorry to hear, I had a similar experience when I got my car, I had just over 800 miles on her when she got rear ended by a box truck, I was lucky enough to only have the bumper damaged and no metal damage.

Dunno I call in about 4 hours (8:30AM) to see if i can get an adjuster out here so we can start the claim and drama. Couldnt sleep very well, kept replaying the whole damn crash in my head and all the proceeding events...1st ever accident (even though I was stopped at a red light).

It drives fine, there is no real damage to the mechanics of the car, its all just auto body.

RH quarter replacement and a whole hatch assembly, new bumper including all rebar behind it, tail lights, painting the whole car, new front bumper and grill, the front fenders are pushed up which tell me slight frame damage in the front too. The whole back of the car is pushed down so once its dissassembled itll need to be on a frame rack on the back to straighten it out. It can be fixed and look as good as new (it will drive like new either way) but needs someone that knows how to do framework on not half A it.

Problem is my redneck guestimation is im up to 8k in repairs right now which is half the value of the car...which may mean something different. This 08 looked and still smelled brand new..so another 08 replacement might be inferior.

Anyone deal with replacing a used car? Did they replace it with something equal or better? or maybe even a year newer?

I'm glad that your family, and yourself, are fine. I wish the wreck I was in, back in June 2001, was that simple. My wreck placed me into a coma for a lil over 3 weeks. I now have brain damage. Can no longer smell or taste anything. I now have short term memory loss, and so on.

A Dodge Dakota is what hit my ride and he ended up passing away. No one know who was at fault either since that was the night Tropical Storm Allison hit Houston hard with massive rain.

Yeah no crap youre beyond lucky to be here after that one. I got no sleep last night because my brain kept replaying it all..not that I was scared, but my brain just couldnt stop replaying it...and the what if's, and the whats gonn happen etc.

Slept from 12-3, up from 3 to 545, up at 730, and when I was sleeping it was mostly wreckless turning. I think once the insurance company tells me they are buying me a 67 shelby gt 500 along with a mazdaspeed 3 for my troubles, I will rest easy ;-)

Well, I really wish the hospital would have let me go. I have to sit here fighting over anything/everything. Had to get a lawyer to fight Social Security for me to get disability. Who knows how long that will be.

I was in a coma level 8, which means, I should have passed away. I was taken to one of the Nations top trauma hospitals, which is Ben Taub (Houston, TX). From what I heard, I was suppose to be a veg and not have a normal life. I was in Ben Taub for about two months. From there, I went next door to T.I.R.R., which is a top rehab place for brain damaged people. I was there for about 3 weeks. From there, I went to 2 other places for rehabilitation. In total, I was away from work for about 9 months. Odd thing is, the same company (Major top solid waste company) brought me back to work. That really does not happen at all, but, I was that good at what I did there in National Accounts.

I can say that driving down the road I cant hear anythign from the outside...their sound deadener is amazing (mazda should steal some). I had already told them i wanted a mazda as they do carry 3,5, and 6's. monday after 4pm I call to see what they got new that day. Im not crazy about the new malibu, but it shows chevy is atleast trying to make something better than they used to.

take into some consideration there are also aftermarket parts that can be had for cheaper then oem. and also remember that if ur a guy who likes to mod wen they cut u the check u can get a carbon fiber hood wich would be cheaper then a new and refinieshed hood.

Its not my fault it was his, im dealing with his insurance along with medical and possibly more. I dont want aftermarket, I want OEM new parts only, they will pay to do it right. I found a site for mazda oem parts, I was pretty darn close. Puts the value at 9, cars value is 17 so its more than 50%...maybe a drivable car will be totalled out. Im split on what I actually want...this car still smells new. It had leather and every option that I wanted even the color.

Not knowing is the worst of it.
