Isuzu Motors America, Inc. announced today that, effective January 31, 2009, it would discontinue distributing new Isuzu passenger vehicles in North America. The discontinuation of passenger vehicles results from the prospective cessation of production by General Motors Corporation of the Ascender sport utility vehicle and the i-290 and i-370 pickup trucks.

Don't let the screen door hit you on the way out!

What the hell took so long?

Kind of brings a tear to my eye.

They hadn't already left the North American market?

OTOH, since all their vehicles are Chevy's anyway, now might be a great time to buy one, since dealers will probably be clearing them out, and you can be pretty sure you'll still be able to get parts and service from Chevy.

Too bad they're still pieces of $hit. The TrailBlazer is awful, as is the Colorado. All Isuzu sells are versions of those two.

Actually the duramax is an Isuzu motor. Quite a good one if i might add. And the colorado in my opinion is a way better option than a ranger. Also note that the S and T series of vehicles are also isuzu designs.

The ranger hasn't been redesigned significantly in about 10 years. Detroit has put all of its eggs in the full-size truck market.

Isuzu sold much better vehicles when they were Isuzus. I wanted a Vehicross sooooo bad back in the day.

Which doesn't say much cause they really dropped the ball on the new twin turbo diesel. I'm not a Ford fan if you couldn't tell.

i have had and beat to hell a couple of isuzu p/u and a budy had a trooper that was pretty much industructable i remember it pulling many others out of the mud in the back woods (i do live in maine thats what he did for fun... )

so i am sad to see them go but they really haven't had thier own automobiles on these shores in a while...

My parents had 2 troopers, they both got good gas mileage and were great suvs. There sails tanked along time ago and that's when they started using chevy platforms full time. To bad.

Too bad

I loved my '93 Rodeo. Crawled all over Arizona in that. Find a map symbol for an abandoned mine and try to find a way to get up there. It pulled all my crap to Chicago and later got a '95 (auto for the wife). Not a single problem with either one. Wish I still had it.
