Is the MS6 worth Keep?

Im suprised what im hearing from some of you. This car is more than capable of making 400+ horsepower. And no you dont necessarily need more cylinders or twin turbos to do it. Tuning is the key. And last I checked everything is out there that you need to achieve that goal. STIs and Evos are nice but the ms6 is just as nice and capable as well. My pockets arent deep enough yet so I will have to wait awhile. But my goal is 450 hp, and yes it can and will be done.

well hey man when you find a way to make deep pockets let me know!

all of you have made very valid point. One of the biggest issues with the other cars stated is the look. I'm not knocking any of them at all there are great cars but the look alone is, how can I be nice about this, immature. Why would I change my MS6 for one of them...power. Now is this everything, no. I've always loved the way MS6 looks. Everyone around will sit there, oh here comes another mazda6, until they really look at it. Plus the car has a sophisticated look to her.

I think I just need to get over the power need I guess, especially since i plan on getting married when I get back from Iraq.

I think the biggest part in me wanting to rid her is the lack of performance parts for the MS6. Everyone else has an ass load of parts where we are limited. I guess this is what happens when you mod the heck out of a specv sentra that can give a vett c6 a run for her money. I know that I can't get MS6 like that...I guess it kills me to know that I guess.

However, I must say thank all of you. After sitting her for almost six months thinking to either trader her in or keep her was a waste. Yeah, you guys are right, theres one thing that the others do not have...the best of both worlds...luxury and power.

Hey I know I don't post much on her and believe when I said that I researched like hell on this car, the evo, and sti but keeping her would be my best bet.

Thanks

No problem man, always here to help. And God Bless in Iraq, thank you for doing OUR country and OUR people a service...best of luck.

would love to get a STi. I actually wanted one to being with put all i could get was the MS6. I blew my motor in my last car and I need a vic and all i could was the MS6. They wouldn't give me the STi and that vic was used like hell but the dealer was trying to get their moneys worth because it was an STi. Once I get back some time in June, I am going to check a couple of STi's out. I want a 04 to 05 model; I've always loved that year. i don't know why but I do.

I mean I love the MS6 but i still want a little more out of it. The one thing about the MS6 I will hate to lose is the luxury feel of it. Who knows i might just end up keeping it that is a stretch though. We will see what happens. s*** I already spent 2 grand in parts that are waiting to be installed. Damn it. I'll see what will happen when i get back though.
How'd you manage that? First, what kind of car was it? Then how'd you do it?
One of the techs at my Mazda/Subaru dealer out here has an 05 STi that he modded the hell out of and it is sex. First sight, I loved his car. It's totally murdered out and sounds awesome.

Ya know, I wish I could spend that kind of money on my car but you should install the stuff and drive it around for a while then make a decision. You never know what a few bolt-ons and new parts will do.

400 whp out of this car is not possible with the stock engine (safely, w/out nitrous). Most ive seen was 365 with a big g35r with custom tune / full bolt ons.

If you have the money and all you want is a power car than ditch the speed and get something else. If your happy with a sleeper 12 second car that can hit 60 in 5 seconds than keep your speed 6. You can achieve those goals with 2 grand. Thats plenty to hang with stock / lightly modded evo /sti fanboys.

I had a Sentra Ser Specv with a t3/t4 set up, down side no motor build....ie dead car. With the motor stock i gave hell to damn near everyone except of course high end and highly modded cars. 260 to 320 whp in a car that was 2700lbs, I loved it. I would have kept but instead of finding a replacement motor, they were going to charge 6grand just to fix it. The answer to that was hell no, so I went to the dealer ship. i told them that I wanted an AWD, turboed vic...and here I am. Do get me wrong I don't hate MS6 I just wished I could get more power out of it. s*** I spent like 10 grand on that sentra. I wish the motor never blew up, lol. What can you life's a b**** some times.

I'm already looking into getting turbinetech TMC, we will see what happens. I know my girls is going to kill me but oh well.

it's not the car it's sometimes the stupid drivers

remember this is grand touring sedan is not going to be a ZR1 or a nissan GTR
it's a car and like every car it's has it's limits but all this crap i hear that they blow up my ass . my speed 6 has 60 k on the odometer and that is with cpe intake hks blow valve test pipe exhaust and rework K04 and never had issues and it's my dayli driver. if i wana leave block long tire marks i drive my GT500
it's not the car to blame

if you want 400whp get a gt35 turbo, forged rods and pistons, forged block, a thick intercooler, headers, external wastegate, some sort of computer system upgrade, integrated intake system, motor mounts, suspension, turboback exhuast, brembo brakes to not crash into a wall, and all the in betweens. i calculated that $15,000 in parts to get a mazdaspeed 6 to RS4 status. as well as the fact that the torque will exceed the hp if kept under 20-22psi. nobody has done it all at once with the extra $5,000 in labor for the installs/tune as well.

Ouch, sounds like fun though! Wish we could get some pics of it. What kind of times could you run in that thing?
Reminds me to shed some weight once I get mine all fixed. Well, shed weight and add some bolt ons. One way or the other it's gonna be fixed to the extent of my justice or lemon lawed...dunno which yet. I'd really enjoy to get it to a point where I can add like 20HP and 15TQ and shed about 500lbs. then the MZ3 would be faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! (drive2)(burnout)

I never took the spec v to the track. i wish i did. That was a bad ass car. I wish the motor never blew up but The MS6 is much nicer I do have to admit that. It's not the ricer type car you know.

the guys on myspecv.com keeps saying to turbo the spec and keep it, but I want a new car though. there's a guy that lives down the road from me with a spec with 320ish whp, and it looks like fun, but I would probably blow it up and don't want to throw $5k+ into it.

Seriously, you bought the wrong car. Am I the only one that sees that this guy does not appreciate the car and all he cares about is the bottom line number? Personally, I dont care to be another d-bag with an evo or sti. I also don't care for couch racing. There is nothing magic about 400hp. But if thats what you want, then go get a car better suited for it. Only the straight 6's come to mind off the top of my head. So go get a supra or an M3 and quit torturing yourself, not to mention, selling the Ms6 will give the opportunity of ownership to someone more deserving of it. I dont care if I have 350hp or 400hp. My shlong dosent get any bigger or smaller as a result. All that matters is that its a great car, with stellar lines, and with good potential for performance. Its a touring car, not a race car. Stop confusing it.

I saw that but when you sink 2K into it already it's a little harder to sell it and restart...although there's always somebody on here that is interested in your brand new unopened parts.

i am making just over 300 awhp with the stock turbo... you are out of your mind in thinking you cant hit 400+.

The car is like every other car, it has limits. But like most of us here we choose to push limits, if that were not the case we'd leave the car alone and enjoy it as it was when it left the showroom floor. If you truely love the car and enjoy it they way the factory built it; but want to refine it, than i say build it. But if you feel the money isn't worth it than dont touch it and trade it away.

I myself am slowly saving for a MS6 and do have the same goals as you. For th stock block i believe 325 is perfect # and if i can aquire the money i'll get a short block and build it up on the side. But again the question you ask is truely up to you. You must decide if the body lines are worth the money for the horse power or will you fall in line and get a Evo or STI. Thinking of those cars reminds me of the new Audi SUV commercial just a bunch of Lexus SUV waiting to pick kids and the kids dont know which one is the parents, but one lucky kid knows his parent is in a sexy black Audi SUV. I'm not saying that these cars are bad (Evo or STI) but they are very popular and everyone has one. When you go home how many MS6 or MS3 are around? I would venture to say no many.

Now you will have to make this choice on your own i believe most people have given you good feed back. Execpt for the pesimistic people. Dont let them get to you. Make a choice on your good judgement and what is right for you. All and all enjoy whatever car you get!

SunshineFC...

I have no clue what your issue. You don't know me and as far as I can tell your worthless to being with. Just because I want more power out of the car does not mean that I do not appreciate this car. In all reality I do a lot more than the EVO or STI. MS6 does not have that ricer look to her and that is the best part of this car. There is nothing wrong with producing more power...of course in a safe manner.

I am not going to tell you where you can stick your finger up but I am sure you are intelligent enough to know where. If you do not have anything positive or useful for that matter keep to you self. No honestly wants to know your own personnel feelings that you are directing to others.

s*** I would keep it. But I blew my last one. I had to get something quick and the MS6 was there. I have no regrets but the turboed specv was and will always be one funny fing car to drive. Pay that bad boy off and get DD
