I was driving today and I realized when I looked at my gas gauge, it was close to the half way point and I only drove 139 miles!!! WTF!!!! I changed my spark plugs recently to NGK Iradium and changed the front brake pads to the Hawk HP pads and I still gotta change the rear brake pads cause they're mad low and I have no idea why my engine is performing so poorly. What the heck can be the problem?

driving it rough? Slamming into the gas pedal or driving faster then u should? Turning on the ac and doing alot of local street driving? Cause those things will do it.

the p5s gas gauge sucks ass...that might have something to do with it. i filled up my tank last night, drove 60 miles or so, it didnt move. but when it gets down to 1/4 tank i can almost watch it move to empty

Hell no, I been driving this car like I'm a granny. I haven't gone pass 70mph yet since I filled it up with gas. I been basically just driving it to work and thats it.

Well, today I really drove the car hard. I was at 3/4 full on the gauge, and after probably about 75 miles today, I am looking at 1/4th now. This with the AC on for a good 2 hours all together. The weather here is hot, and very hummid, so driving hard didn't help at all with my gas. Also I drove around school for probably a total of 1 hr (in between breaks in my classes). I tend to take the long way to places most of the time, and I honestly don't mind traffic jams, lets me just chill since I'm not in a hurry to go anywhere.

Yikes not even pass 70mph, my foot gets tired if I'm not on 80+mph (my foot likes to rest at that spot). For some reason I hate traveling at 70ish, its just to slow for the freeway. Try traveling at 110-120ish, thats a lot of fun. Do it when theres no one around of course.

Did you disconnect your battery at all anytime recently? When I disconnect my battery and don't reset the ecu properly my gas mileage goes to s*** just like yours.

last weekend when we had our road challenge, i was getting 220 miles per half tank. it was l33t

could be just a bad tank of gas. i usually get 100+ miles on the first quarter tank, 220 by half tank. sometimes the s*** gas over here gets me under 75miles on the first quarter and 160 by half. i always drive the same, not too slow, not too fast.

Just felt like I'd gloat... I just pulled my first 400mile tank!!! WOW! Mild weather, lots of mellow driving (no stop and go traffic, no 90mph freeway)

Khoi> maybe your gas magically teleported to my tank or something... I've been getting crappy mileage til just now, (300/tank range) but I'm a sucker for AC, and it WAS stupid hot, and I've got remote start...

i totally agree with you on this one. i have had troubles with my gauge not accurately showing how much i have.

check your tire pressure. thats a biggie. people usually don't realize this can affect mileage big time.

The Spark Plugs Man!

THE SPARK PLUGS MAN!

My experience is that any SPARK PLUG OTHER THAN STOCK give crapply gas mileage. Go back to stock type of plug and try.

I tried many many other plugs and the ONLY ONE FOR ME is BOSH+4 that work the best other than stock. I DON'T WANT TO START A FLAME WAR OVER PLUGS so just try the stock plug and see what I mean.

I usually get around 300+ miles per tank, mixed highway/city driving.

No I haven't disconnected the battery recently and if it is my spark plugs, then wtf!!! You would think buying brand new NGK Iradiums would help some what.

The best I've ever got on a full tank was 320 miles and that was because I was doing like 60-65 on the highway and driving like a granny just to see how much mpg I could get.

i have herd a few people saying the ngk iridiums dont work well... anyone else ever try them ? ... im currently using bosch +4's and they work well i think

check the spark plugs...then check your tire pressure...if you've hit something recently (a big pot hole or curb) you may want to get your alignment done...

Thats a bad deal... The other day I changed my air filter.... i hate to say it my stock air filter... (pissed) I want a turbo so i'll wait instead of wasting money on a CAI... anyways i'm going up a hill and hit 6g's in rev's and then switch to 3rd... go over the hill and come to a light and my car chokes out on me... so i restart the thing and it sound like someone's got a couple of hammers going at the motor... I get it looked at and the Mazda tech guys say something came through the air intake and flatten the # 1 & 3 spark plugs... so instead of it being a warranty thing... I had to shell out 60 bucks(canadian)... (upbum)
