Is fuel managment a must?

If I wish to run 5psi of boost(lowest setting on my wastegate), must I think at all about fuel management? Is the stock FS-DE management going to give me enough fuel to not risk blowing my engin?

If I must have some kind of added fuel management, what do you think is the cheapest to get this to run properly?(not for top performance, i just want it to run well when i install it, running out of summer and cash)
 
You always need fuel management, whether its a simple RRFPR or a piggy back computer, you HAVE to have something to allow more fuel to the engine under boost. NO way around it.
 
or a fmu. if you wanna go cheap get a vortech. they are like 100 new.

we already have a fuel pressure regulator ;) so he needs a rrfpr, or a vortech FMU which basically function the same way. they dump fuel in porportion to the amount of boost the unit sees.
 
What size turbo? even if its a t-25 I would definately get at least an FMU like everyone else said.

The BEGI RRFPR and Vortech piece of junk do not work the same.

The BEGI allows you to set the base fuel pressure and the amount of fuel for boost independantly of each other.

The Vortech just pushes more fuel regardless and you have to change out dumb little disks to do so.

You need fuel management. Get the BEGI RRFPR and be safe.
 
Def get some fuel management..

Boost loves to see 12's a/f!

N/a (which is what your computer is) loves to see 14's a/f!

14's a/f with turbo..means ultra lean...and KA BOOM!

I have a GT-30R but what does it matter since it won't even be close to it's top efficiency range at 5psi.
 
they do the same thing, for a certain amount of boost applied, an amount of fuel is supplied. But the RRFPR is easier to "tune" if thats what you want to call it =)
 
A voltage clamp is needed too because it will keep the ecu from pulling the fuel you're trying to add.
 
So basically..if you want the cheapest route..

You will need:

Voltage clamp=~$100
RRFPR/Vortech FMU=~$125

What kind of vorteck FMU would i want to be on the safe side: 10:1, 8:1 or something else?

I get how the fmu works but i don't understand how a voltage clamp work, could someone explain this to me please.

You can try and contact Flyin Protege for the Voltage Clamp. They might still have some.

W/ the vortech FMU it come with small interchangeable discs..that lets you change amount of fuel.

the voltage clamp works like this:

it has a pressure switch..as soon as it sees boost..the switch activates..and clamps the o2 sensor.

Basically that means that it tell the ecu that the car is runin ultra lean..and not to pull fuel!

Flyin' Miata still sells the voltage clamp. They use it on the newer Miatas for fuel along with the Link ECU...

yes flying miata still sells them like stuttercs said. also go with a 12:1 to be safer than 10:1.
