Is 5 reliable?

2006, Stellar Silver, 61,110 miles, no problems to speak of....... Recall on the sliding door locks, working with Mazda on the TSB for the clunking on the suspension, oil changed every 6,500 miles........ approx 40,000 miles on the original tires, have not changed or flushed the transmission fluid, but might do that next....... since someone has mentioned it......

Not disappointed and happy about the gas mileage I'm getting...... better than 32 on the highway...........

I have almost 10k on my 08 M5 now.

Tires seem fine.

Ride is smooth.

Has so much more gittyup than my Pro5.

Only thing... funny sound from my drivers side window when it goes down.

No real changes from 08 to 09. The big changes happened from 07 to 08.

Gotta echo what's been said so far. I'm approaching 10k in my 2008. So far so good! Sporty and fun and 100% reliable (so far - knock on wood).

Oh yeah... the kids love the power slides in the snow! :D

Thank you! I just found another site http://www.whatcar.com/car-review-readers.aspx?RT=731 with tons of 5 reviews. Seems to me a lot of people experienced excessive tire wear problem. They are changing tires 8000-13000 miles average. Anybody here experienced?

I don't know what everyone else is experiencing, but I'm at 68000km and Still on the original Toyos. Granted I have winter tires on for 5 months of the year, but I think I'll get 1 more summer out of them before I get to the wear indicators. I don't drive gentle but they are lasting an acceptable amount of time.

I've ony had 2 issues so far, rear wiper arm snapped during some seriously heavy snow fall (I was not so smart on that one) and during the same snow storm, the Adaptive braking system temporarially shut off (mostly I think due to the amount of snow packed in the wheel wells!) other than that is's been fantastically trouble free!!!

I am having problems with my 07Mazda5 stuttering but only when in automatic. When I drive in manual it doesnt do it. The dealer changer the pcv hose, coil packs and flashed the computer. Now they are telling me its my fault and need new tires???? Any body have a clue whats going on

So many questions to answer here, please browse/search around the overall Mazda5 area, there is already a lot of information posted:

Hi I own a 08 GT with 23000km in it now. Car run nice and fine. No problem at all. I havn't back to the dealer since I pick up my M5 a year ago.
I did all my oil change myself every 8000km. Will going to the dealer for the first time for 24000km service.
The only problem is my wife and I together already had three tickets from the police with driving the M5 in one year. I own two Lotus for more then eight years now but I only got one ticket with the Lotus. "Touch wood" hope no more ticket.
You will be happy if you own a M5.

Overall we're happy with our 2006 5. Though it has been in for more TSB's than any vehicle we've owned. None of them have been serious. We did replace the tires relatively early, just replaced the battery at 50k miles. And it needs the front brakes done because of a shimmy when braking hard from high speed.

I'm not sure I'd buy it again and that's mostly because the Mazda dealer has changed, they're the only one close-by and we absolutely hate them. Not the cars fault.

I agree that the service you get from the dealers are not very good. It's hard to get something fixed under warranty.

If you are going from your Toyota Sienna to the 5, be prepared not to expect the same quality as your Toyota. Like everyone says here, there's alot of small minor quirks, but overall the 5 should be a reiable car. I have an 08 GT with 10K kms. I have annoying things like, condensation in the tail lights, vibration at 80km/hr in certain weather conditions, tapping noise over bumps from the windshield when it's cold outside, and noisy suspension. I just learn to accept them, and enjoy my car because it's pretty fun to drive, and very practical for a small family.

Without disagreeing with you, I think it is worth noting that a 5 only costs 1/2 to 2/3 as much as a Sienna, which cannot help but come to mind when comparing what one gets for the money.

I totally agree, that is one reason why I picked the mz5 over the Rav4. I got a fully loaded GT for the price of a base Rav4, plus the sliding door also sold me on the mz5. But in all fairness, I owned a corolla which is a cheaper car, and did not have any quality issues when bought new. It was a solid well put together car. Anyways, I still love driving my mz5, and hope that it will be a reliable car going forward.
