2014 reflex blue mazda6 grand touring
good morning,
i'm having a little trouble with my ipod (ipod classic, bought it about a year ago) connecting to the car via USB. the USB connection charges the ipod just fine, but when i try to select "ipod" on the car display, it just says "reading ipod" and won't actually read the thing. it did work once, i left the ipod connected, didn't change any settings, and when i restarted the car the following day the ipod issue began.
i've got the grand touring with the bose system and navi if that makes any difference.
thanks!

I have a CX-5 with the same audio unit I believe. I think the way I got mine to work was to wait to plug the ipod in until the car had started and the audio screen powered up. Haven't used it in a while though so I may be mis-remembering.

Did his suggestion work for you? i got an ipod classic too with the same issue but my iPod is kinda glitchy sometimes

nope, no help. I tried restoring the ipod to factory settings and then putting all the music back on, but still met with the same issue. when i have some time i'm gonna update the nav maps via tomtom in hopes that it will reboot the system and make my car's ipod function work like it should.
i'll post the results after the experiment.

i got an ipod touch. A. you do got to wait for complete power up. best way to test is to have your phone synced with bluetooth. once that is completely on plug up your ipod. if it says reading ipod you got to put your ipod on its main screen.

it appears that the problem has been fixed. last night i removed the SD card and updated the nav maps, then reinstalled the SD card which rebooted and updated the nav system. after that was done, i let everything get fully booted up, plugged in the ipod, and after a few minutes it started playing. this morning when i started the car it also worked, but i had to wait for the audio/bluetooth/nav system to be all settled in first.
