Introducing Custom Performance Engineering's SPEED3 catback exhaust system!

thats odd that it is quieter than the speed6 exhaust, since the speed6 barely has an exhaust note at all in stock form. I agree you will never get all the drone out of this car, I don't even notice it really. The sound clips I have heard of your catback remind me of a g35 coupe and it doesn't get much better than that. I feel like the stock exhaust sounds awesome below 3500 rpms and then it disappears above that, from what I can tell the cpe exhaust sounds like a race car throughout the entire rpm band

This is a highly engineered, high quality exhaust system that we consider quiet in comparison to our SPEED6 exhaust.

I probably should have worded my statement differently, but I was trying to compare our cp-e SPEED3 catback exhaust to our cp-e SPEED6 catback exhaust. The point I was trying to make was that our SPEED3 catback is much quieter than our SPEED6 catback. But the stock SPEED6 catback is very quiet, which is part of the reason why we were able top pick up so much horsepower with our cp-e catback.

Your description of the exhaust volume and tone is darn accurate, and I'm glad you could hear that through the sound clip. I'm sure people will be satisfied with our products, but I'm just hoping that we can get more unbiased opinions on board once we get more catbacks out there!

IMO, everyone's tolerance to drone is different. I've read some posts from people that say the stock MS3 exhaust drones too much for them. I can respect that and can see why they wouldn't want to pay hard earned $$$ for an exhaust of which they will not like/enjoy the sound.

Unfortunately, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Race cars are ear drum splitting loud for a reason. If you get the chance, go to the US F1 Grand Prix and listen to the race without any ear protection for 1 full minute. If you can stand it, well you've just lost a good percentage of your hearing. V8s revving at 19k rpms with open exhaust is loud on a scale of biblical proportion (it was better when they used V10s).

When considering an aftermarket exhaust, you have to be willing to compromise. As of now, there aren't too many options we MS3 owners have...that's the nature of the business when new cars come out.

On my Mustang, I chose to go with a Magnaflow catted X-pipe with a Borla straight through exhaust. I firmly believe that using that car as a daily driver for 5+ years has made me lose a good % of my hearing. Add to that the 500 watt aftermarket stereo and my GOD the MS3 is an eardrum GODSEND!

What I've heard from the CP-E clips of their catback exhaust really impressed me. There isn't that ricey coffee fart can noise at all.

Good things come to those who wait. I know I want instant gratification with mods and I want everything now, but my experience with modding my Mustang has forced me to be as rational and patient as I can; I certainly have regrets with some of the mods. The aftermarket for the MS3 has only just started...we got TONS to look forward to.

Holy crap, sorry for the epic novel! :o

Epic novel maybe, but good points worth mentioning (yes)

Could you provide us a sound clip from within the car so we know what kind of cabin noise this bad boy makes??

+1, don't want to go back to my specV interior noise where if someone was talking about something I didn't want to hear about all I had to do was downshift.(bicker) (drive)

We don't have a car in the shop with our exhaust installed at the moment, but the next time we have one here I'll be sure to grab a video for you guys (cool)

First of all, thanks for the props guys. We're working really hard to deliver the products you all want, and we're plased to hear that you're pelased with our offerings.

I think you're reading way too much into my posts. We're not trying to swindle anyone, and everything I'm telling you is entirely factual.

Please understand that exhaust tone isn't an exact science. I mean, how on earth does one explain how something sounds over the internet? To get a better understanding of how this system sounds, you either need to hear it in person, or wait for more online reviews. We do the best we can to help you understand how the system sounds with videos and sound clips, but there's only so much we can do.

If you have a SPEED3, you'll notice the STOCK SYSTEM drones to some degree on the highway. Our catback is no different, and unless you put on huge can style mufflers which will stifle your performance, you're not going to eliminate ALL the drone in this car. Now, some people are more sensitive to drone than others are. That's why we're offering an extra resonator option; for people who want to eliminate as much drone as possible without killing the performance benefits of our catback.

This is not a boomy, done laden exhaust system. This is a highly engineered, high quality exhaust system that we consider quiet in comparison to our SPEED6 exhaust. We spent a long time researching and selecting the muffler we use on this system, and I think once you hear it in person our extra effort will come across in the sound and appearance of the system.

I wish I could supply sound clips and opinions, but I am still waiting for my turbo back with cat to be shipped.

digging up an old thread for fun. Catback exhaust has shipped and is on its way, expected date is Friday. If you haven't checked out their site, I suggest doing it, great products.
