Intermittent shift problem, idle (ie stop light) to first ONLY, manual transaxle ???

Thanks @pcb... I was wondering what the hearts meant. Is there a benchmark or percentage of "likes" for a heart symbol? Or 1 or 100 doesn't matter...

Thanks @pcb...so not scientifically derived then. Still, good to know. I've never ordered there before but I'm impressed with search/selection options.

They're a big company... They don't want to deal with a bunch of crap being returned and refunded.

They charge all taxes so you don't have to worry about any duty.

It's a good idea to order a bunch of extra stuff like lightbulbs, wiper blades, sparkplugs and other regular maintenance items... Helps offset the shipping cost...

As it turns out Mazda does sell an overhaul kit - looks like all the bits mentioned in the diagram plus the spring. My price is $30 so I think I'm going to give it a go. Also ordered the housing gasket, flex hose to the cyl and the bushing. At least I'll know the parts are new and I get to see the inner workings of another system. I'll post some pictures/results but it may be a few days because I'm broke, plus I need my car.
