Can anyone tell me why I am unable to use the interior door lock switch (driver's side) to lock the doors when I exit the car? I dont have auto lock turned on but I do have keyless entry ...is it because the I have the key card still within range??

I have the same problem, though I don't have the key card. I find I can't lock the doors using either the button on the door or the lock button on my key if any door is open. I have to close all doors then hit the lock button.

Sorry this isn't an answer, just commisserating.

Thanks UpNorth .....guess I'm just in the habit of trying to lock my doors like I did in the car I traded for this one. No biggee tho ...still love this ride.

It is to prevent you from locking your keys in the car.

You can only lock the car with all doors closed.... you need the key or remote to lock the car... keys/remote can't get locked inside the car.

I don't know of anyway to change it.

Thanks AW .... I thought I was doing something wrong (keycard within range) or had a problem. As long as I know that is how it is supposed to operate, that's fine with me.

I have the keyless remote. If you don't have the remote, you can't lock the doors. So you go inside, put your keys on the table, go out, grab stuff out of your car, and go to lock it. Nope, you hit lock, and it unlocks itself. You cannot physically lock the car without the remote keypad.

Brilliant!

Didn't think of that scenario ....that sux. I also found it funny that at an unmentioned Mazda dealership that they had put the keycards in those metal window key lock boxes (that attach to the driver's window). Since they were in range, all I had to do was press the outside door button and POOF! I'm in ....

I just tried it and it lets me lock all the doors from the driver's side...?? And when I do, they're all locked.

Was your driver front door opened? I'm talking about hitting the interior lock switch with the driver's doors opened when you are exiting. Mine will not lock in that manner using the driver's interior door lock switch. I'm wondering if it's because I have the keycard still in range.

Doesn't the remote reach from the house?

Yeah, when exiting my car I hit the lock button instead of using the remote to lock the car. Its just force of habit and I checked it again tonight...not one door is unlocked if I do it this way...??
But...then again, I do not have a key card, I have the standard remote.

That's odd, according to the manual that shouldn't work, no matter what key you have. Unless I read that wrong.

LOL the whole point of keyless is that you don't need to really do anything. If you have autolocking turned on, you'll close all doors, hear a beep, and then when you walk about 4 ft away it will beep again and lock all doors - AUTOMATICALLY.

If you don't have autolocking enabled, simply close all doors and hit the request button on the outside handle. Locked.

I literally NEVER take my key out of my pocket.

Come on guys, you can't be serious that this is an "issue".
