On the 6i, there isn't going to be any real gains seen in any type of muffler or catback system anyway. The stock system is actually more then is necessary on the car. Heck the whole second muffler/Y-pipe is probably the biggest restriction. Convert to single muffler and single pipe/tip, and you'd get performance back through weight savings

Remember that the stock 6i has its own set of headers.
IMO the only way your going to see ANY gains at all (from exhaust mods) is if you replace the ENTIRE system. (10-15 from doing that)
Cause honestly you've really only got two real bend points, everything else is straight back. Even the cat converter is well designed.

Well you can either wrap the header, or just get it ceramic coated. Same general effect. Ceramic coating does add quite a bit to the price though.
The most hardcore exhaust setup I've ever seen was on a C05 Vette. He had wrapped his entire dual exhaust system, all the way from the headers, to the mufflers. The only part of the exhaust not wrapped, was the exhaust tips. Just insane.
But ya on the 6i or 6s, I'd personally just run a single pipe back, with a single muffler. There isn't any need for two mufflers or two tips, other then purely aesthetic ones.
Not only would a single pipe/muffler be cheaper and more efficent (no y split), but it'll weigh less too.
Think of it as getting a titanium exhaust system, without paying for it.
