I was wondering what the dimensions of the intercoolers are for our cars... I wanna know what i can fit ( im gonna do a custom intercooler job on my car...

Thanks for your help!

you want to make a custom one to replace the one in the stock position? You are better off making a fmic kit, the stock placement isn't that big i don't think.

its about the size of a pack of cigs :) lol alright its a little bigger than that, about 8 x 12" or something

but like ^^^^ if your going to go through all of that you might as well get a FMIC, and I would not go custom its not worth the cost savings if there are any

no no no i mean like the hi boost kit beggi perrin etc...... what are their dimensions? im gonna do a custom fmic

im gonna save alot...for one e-bay is cheap and two i hace access to a mandrel bender (free) and tig welder ( free)... soo Ill be saving an ass load!!!!!

my iON core is 24"x6"x3.5" IIRC. plus endtanks, i think the overall length is around 30".

You can't fit anything taller than 6-6.5" w/o cutting the bumper support.

Please don't get an ebay core, anything worth doing is worth doing right. Make your own piping if you want to save a buck, but when it comes to cores, you get what you pay for.

anyone think an evo8 fmic (stock) will fit behind the bumper?

I have never seen one outta the car but from what I can see the width is ok, the thickness should be ok because its only 2" I think. But the height will be an issue, the IC's everyone is making now just clears the bottom of the bumpers so I cant see this working unless you cut out a top of the metal portion of the bumper so it can sit up higher.

Ken you aree getting a good discount so why bother (rlaugh)

well that works if you can get it done for free, but like Rich said dont cheap out on the IC, with all the money your saving you can get a good one :)

those ones on ebay look ok, but if you look at the core its most likely not a true garrett, if you look the fins are doubled on the garrett ones which makes it more efficent than some of those giant cheap cores

yes it looks fine, but its a cheap intercooler, it will work but I would spend the extra money and get a garrett core

look at the fins on that thing and then look at the mental addiction or ION core and you will see what we are talking about

sorry to bring up a dead thread, but i'm looking for dimensions on FMIC cores too, and no one really gave any answers in this thread, i've searched so i'm left with this, to bring up this thread and hopefully gets ome answers, i just need dimensions, i'm not buying an EBAY core so i don't need to know why i shouldn't. if anyone could help that would be awesome

looking for dimensions to a core where i won't have to cut the bumper supports, a little plastic cutting wouldn't hurt, but nothing metal if you catch my drift... (mj)

Alot of those Ebay cores are chinese/India imports. There pressure drop, thermo transfer and over all quality tell the whole story when you test it against a nice core.
90% of those cheap cores leak between the fins. The aluminum construction of those cores are awful. When you say it works great, have you done a pressure test to see if it leaks, done a pressure drop test, before and after the core temp. test?
Those cores typically heat soak after 1-2 pulls.. I have seen more than 2 dozen of those Johnny Racer, Ebay, etc cores on our dyno and they are merly Ok.

To answer your question on the size core that fits in our bumper is 24x6x3.5
That is core alone.
