Intake Question

:
Mazda 6S
Guys,

i would like to buy a performance intake. is there any other car's intake system that matches the p5? i'm referring to the bends and mounting of it. does it make sense?

You could either get just ok custom intake from ebay for about ~$35
or just get cone filter with bracket to make custom for yourself
or Ractive CAI for ~$100 corksport.com
or AEM short ram intake for ~$160 adventon.com
or Injen RD CAI for ~$200 adventon.com
hope I answered your question.

Bijou, it looks like you chose the injen, is that the best out of the ones you listed? which would be close? I read in another thread you made about Ciruit City selling Ractive parts....would the Ractive CAI be a good option?

I run a AEM short Ram...(AEM doesn't make a CAI) From all I have heard all intakes are relatively similar is increasing performance. Injen and AEM probably have the better names out in the business for mazda's. I see a lot of people with Injens, and many with AEM's. Personal preference is it safe to say? If there is a significant different between AEM and Injen intakes I wouldn't mind knowing =) cause I'm a bit confused on just how big a difference they are.

Fyrespirit37, you pretty much hit the nail on the head...its pretty much personal preference....

PERSONALLY....I think the INJEN looks the best. That is why I got it.

yeah like sir nuke said, Injen looks really good.
there were forum member had a ractive CAI and it looked good too.
basically it's your choice, I think they are very similar when it comes to performance.

Just remember you will get NO significant hp gains with any type of intake in our cars. With a SRI you may get 1-2hp and with a CAI 3-4hp. The only thing you will gain is better throttle response and a little more tourqe in the higher bands. So if you care more for performance instead of looks than just get a SRI from ebay for $40. CAI's will cost you about $200 and the only real benifit of them over the SRI is looks and a louder sound.
